You have the right to food money
But by God, if you're paying for groceries with some government voucher that takes a long time to process, do not get in the fucking express line, especially if you have more than 12 fucking items.

I lost ten minutes of valuable beer drinking time in that God Damn line, and now my beer is warm.

Naturally I was too spineless to say anything at the store so I figured I'd just vent about it here instead.

:grr: :grr: :grr:

1. Three types of people, those who care, those who don’t and those who have no idea!
I shop with an elderly neighbor of mine and she can be completely oblivious to the people behind her. Nice person otherwise, just unaware. Too bad about the lost beer time though, really heartrending, that is.

4. The person knew what they were doing, that's what was so infuriating about it
They were trying to goad a good liberal into thinking bad thoughts about the concept of "entitlement."

6. Oh! Goading is the worst!
Glad you are were able to keep your sense of justice after an ordeal like that. You know, people deserve the right to food, but do they have to be infuriating douche bags too?

At least you weren't one of those guys who just stand there and sigh loudly. Queuing up is a fact of life, those guys that sigh loudly are more irritating than the guy with 13 items.

5. Warm beer?
That's just... unAmerican! Piss tasting watered down beer, fine. But warm? Wrong. Just wrong.

7. A little common courtesy isn't a bad thing.
Hell, I've had express lane cashiers drag me from the opposite aisle, and I whine "but I have more than 12 items!" Or they see me counting and say "it does not matter!"

Still, the store sign reads "12 items or less". Most aisles don't have signs reading "cash or sexual favors only - no credit cards, food stamps, blah blah blah". Not yet anyway...

Both customer and store should have known better; the former for having more than 12 items (and clerks usually grab people only if the number of people ready to check out is LOW, no lines) and if the store has a wobbly about tokens of exchange, that's their problem to define what is acceptable in an 'express lane'.

Hell, I avoid express lanes. Often enough there are 4 or 5 people queued up and the adjacent lane has 1 or 2 people. Save the time from changing cash or the time spent because their bloody credit card reader konked out yet again... observation and strategy.

'course, some times I'm too knackered to care and just pick the line with the cutest cashier and hope they are not wearing any articles of ownership such as a marriage ring or love bracelet... :silly:

8. WHILE your beer was losing frosty temps?
That you didn't kill them on the spot shows your heart of gold.

10. Not only that but I left my engine running since I was only grabbing one item
Ooops, did I say that out loud?

Damnit.
