Worst car name?
I nominate the Prius.

It's like a protein-caused disease that gives you a boner. x(

the Ford Sierra, that they brought over here.

As I remember, it wasn't bad for the 80's when every manufacturer made sucky cars.

113. But the name is still sucky. I was in Europe in '84 and remember seeing many
american car models not yet available here, just before Ford introduced the Tempo here, if memory serves.

I remember seeing the Sierras there.

and they failed with a few other models, too.

But, not because the cars sucked-- they just didn't know how to sell them.

It screams "stupid American" crossing the French and English for "The Car" especially considering "car" in French is feminine, making it l'auto or "la auto" not "le auto".

76. The wrong car at the wrong time
There is no single reason why the Edsel failed, and failed so spectacularly. Popular culture often faults the car’s styling. Consumer Reports cited poor workmanship. Marketing experts hold the Edsel up as a supreme example of corporate America’s failure to understand the nature of the American consumer. Business analysts cite the weak internal support for the product inside Ford’s executive offices. According to author and Edsel scholar Jan Deutsch, the Edsel was "the wrong car at the wrong time."

65. Seems you've all overlooked the greatest Car-Name blunder in history: the Chevy NOVA.
Most auto manufacturers have"marketing" departments
that do this stuff called "research"...
They give cars different names when they sell them in different
markets.

Just for example: Mel Gibson wasn't driving a Mach1 Mustang Fastback
when he made his theatrical bones in "Mad Max" and "The Road Warrior"...
he was driving an "Acadian Canso".
WHY that was a good name for a big 70's musclecar in Australia, I have no idea.

But there's lot's of stuff about Australia that I'll never understand.
Hey, it's an entire continent full of people who spend their lives
upside-down, hanging on to this planet with their TOES.
I'm not even gonna try to pretend that I understand them, or their odd car names.

Anyway, Chevrolet had a great big "Best Seller" with the Chevy NOVA,
and it thought it could open up a whole new market by shipping them down
to some of the major cities in South America.

They shipped 20 thousand cars, & they sold about 50 of them.

Eventually, some bilingual minor clerk crunching the numbers on the piles
of paperwork involved in the debacle mentioned the fact that,
in Spanish, "NoVa" translates to "Does Not Go".

82. I delivered pizzas in my Mom's...
Oldsmobile Custom Cutlass Cruiser -- a HUGE baby blue station wagon with fake woodgrain side panels. I would occasionally knock down a mailbox across the street when backing out of a customer's driveway. I always left a note, but it was like driving the USS Poseidon.

Previously my Mom had a Chevrolet Kingswood Estate -- another station wagon, but beige with fake wood.

88. The "Cricket"
The Plymouth Cricket was a subcompact automobile sold by the Plymouth division of Chrysler Corporation in the American market from 1971 to 1973. The car was a captive import, a rebadged version of the British Hillman Avenger, built by Chrysler's UK subsidiary (formerly the Rootes Group). Curiously, only a four-door sedan and station wagon were available, at a time when two-door subcompacts were much more popular, and a two-door body was sold in the Avenger range.

CarType

1971 Cricket

I had a friend who had this car and I always thought I'd like to have one too. It's just that when I thought of the name, it reminded me of an insect...

129. of the modern cars
any car who is too lazy to think of a name so they use something alphanumeric intsead. It's mostly the high end cars that do this. For example, the Lexus SUV "RX300"

I'm sorry, but when I see "RX" I think of drugs, not a car.

The alphanumeric names just show a lack of creativity on their part IMO.
