Got laid off...should I go to DC for the inauguration festivities?
Well found out I have no work coming in. I was thinking of taking a trip to DC to visit my friend in Arlington and check out the inauguration...He doesn't have tickets but hell it'll be a party there regardless...so should I do it? I figure it's a once in a lifetime kinda thing....so why not right?
I hope you are doing well and I hope this new year will be better for you. I'm not in MI currently. I'm out in Portland OR which is a great place but unfortunately my job here was still automotive, so the company I'm with here has been hit hard. So I guess it would have been warmer to watch it on TV after all, assuming I stayed here. I heard it's quite cold back home this week....Oregon unfortunately in the top 5 states in terms of unemployment so I may end up coming home after all. I do miss my family friends out there and had a great time seeing everyone over the holidays.
I decided I will go to DC after all. I ordered a ticket for early tomorrow morning. I'm looking forward to it. This is very exciting! I'll post photos from there!
It's a once in a lifetime chance, I wish I could go. You'll have the rest of your life to deal with layoffs and financial problems, but this is a historic moment.
