I went there on Wednesday to gauge the big big discount closeout prices.

All DVDs were 20% off.

Now let's clarify that. That's 20% off of the MSRP -- not 20% what most stores charge in the first place. The Indiana Jones set, after the "discount", was the same price everywhere else: $39.99. (that's the 3 movie collection. The one with the new worthless flick, after 20% bs discount, was $63.99 - like how it's usually $59 everywhere else...)

Ditto for the cameras. 10% off means an otherwise equal brick and mortar store price.

10% for video games is not a real incentive to be free of inventory that MUST MUST MUST GO. (than take some immodium-AD if it's got to go and wait)

Nothing big on the TVs.

All the software wasn't the type I'd ever consider. At least CompUSA had Photoshop I was able to get at mail order price when they closed...

I did find a wireless pointer mouse for sale - 10% off. Net price was $50; doubtlessly the same price anywhere else with no "discount" needed.

None of the staff was friendly, but that's to be expected.


Oh, hold out the receipt when you exit. They want to liquidate the inventory, but that doesn't mean they want to get rid of it. :P

It basically said what you are saying. Real deals are few and far between. Glad to hear that you found a mouse you like. Cool new avatar.

6. chains usually hire liquidation specialists to come in

they misprice everything, and move a lot of the choice stuff to other venues to sell. It's a scam; you might find a deal now and then but you really have to know the going price for the items.
