The Neighbors, Part Deux
I posted about this a few months back. We have a pair of highly inconsiderate next-door neighbors. It seems that they are inconsiderate to others besides us; they received an anonymous note taped to the front door of their residence today telling them that their dogs' constant barking is bothering the neighborhood.

Do the two of them exhibit any kind of remorse? Nope.

The wife has spent her afternoon at the office dialing the entire neighborhood, house by house, to determine who left the note. They've called us, and the husband rang our front doorbell; we haven't called them back as of yet, and didn't go to the door.

We didn't leave the note, but we have contacted Animal Control, and let's just say that they'll have more to worry about than an anonymous note if it keeps up. In the meantime, one of our other neighbors called to say that when she tried to talk to the wife about the constant noise emanating from their home, the wife told her "it's none of your business" and "we will find who wrote this note".

Unbelievable. As Jean Paul Sartre said, "Hell is other people".

1. Okay, I'm responding to my own post. How lame is that?
The neighbor dared to call us this evening and upbraid me over our calling Animal Control over the constantly barking dogs. Let's just say that it's been four years in coming, but I did it.

I told her off. In a big way. Without using obscenities, raising my voice or losing my cool, I told her that we have been dealing with their crap for the past four years, we've had enough, and there is nothing she can do or say to prevent us from calling the authorities everytime she and her husband decide that our peace and the quiet enjoyment of our property is less important than whatever it is they're doing.

Phew. I feel so, SO much better.

2. Good on You
I'm glad you're feeling better, too. Are the dogs being quiet? I hope you (and your neighbors) are having a positive effect on your environs.

3. Good for you!
I have a noisy neighbor also. Like clockwork, he plays his stereo LOUD on Sunday evenings. And like clockwork, at midnight, I call-in a noise complaint if it's still turned-up.

The thing is.. he doesn't know who's been calling. It could be a number of people living near him..

5. Aquaman, how did you know?
Yes, they're Republicans. They couldn't wait to come over and harangue us during the sElection about how we were "destroying the country" by demanding that all votes be counted.

Here's their dirty little secret: While I was campaigning, I bought a "walking list" of the registered voters in our community. Neither of them are even registered to vote!

I don't know if anyone else has ever gone through this, but the chance to tell someone off that has spent the past four years not giving a shit about anyone but themselves felt GREAT.
