Help a Myspace newbie. I just joined and suddenly every girl wants me.
This can't be real. Suddenly I'm getting these emails from supposed members but when I try to respond nothing goes forward. Also, I noticed, interestingly enough that none of them uses my name. They always say how wonderful my profile is but never mention any specifics.

Is this spam? How is this working? What is in it for the spammers if it is spam?

I don't understand this.

2. My basic rule of thumb is that if anyone who is even remotely a girl
says anything even remotely like 'wanting me' it's either spam or I misunderstood... :)

It's definitely some sort of spam - I get them on yahoo sometimes - I don't know how it works exactly (I guess they just send out messages to every account name under the sun) but it seems like they want you to click a link to a dating site or some other business...

4. spam...
their sites are almost always paper-thin and usually try to lure you to webcam/erotica sites...

once i was getting 10 of those add requests a week...which explains why i've let my myspace page rot for about a year...
