1. What is she selling again?
Looks like more than a haircut...

Are they teaching hair styling in jail now?

3. You know what...
good for her. Inmates who learn a useful skill while incarcerated have a significantly lower rate of recidivism.

There was a commercial several years ago entitled Nobody says "When I grow-up, I want to be a drug-dealer." It's been my experience that is true...nobody grows up saying or thinking "I want to be a criminal." The cause of most types of criminality is lack of other opportunities. (When you can't find a real job, drug-dealing, prostitution and theft seem like reasonable options compared to indigence.) Hopefully, she can make a life for herself now with the skills she learned as a hairdresser.

4. You can't actually practice that skill for money unless you're licensed
And if she WAS licensed, she wouldn't have all this "I'll style your hair for free" stuff on CL. Ethnic hairstylists in Fayettenam make good money--from what I've been told, a lot of hot and happening things are happening in ethnic hair in Fayetteville. If you're licensed you will make money in that business. If you got trained in the Cumberland County Jail...you put ads like this one on Craigslist.

I think she SHOULD go to Mitchell's Hairstyling Academy. The work in the ad was decent.

7. In some states you can braid/style hair without a license
But to cut hair, you need a barbers or beauticians license.

There's a braiding shop right around the corner from where I live, and I don't think it's licensed in any way. It's usually pretty busy though.

8. This isn't one of them
In NC, you can wash hair without a license, but that is it. (I just read the cosmetic art law.) Braiding requires a license.
