The Passion continues to inspire

I went to services this morning and the rabbi was relating something that happened last night. Seems the maintenance person locked herself out of the building after Friday evening services. The rabbi and some other congregants waited with her while someone else who had keys brought them to her.

While the small group was waiting outside the building a group of teenagers drove by and turned left onto the street directly in front of the synagogue. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to get back at those Jews these kids, who were obviously so inspired by the Passion, yelled out to the group, "Jesus killers." The did this again after driving around the block.

Thank you Mel Gibson! One of my friends told me last week that until she saw the sign erected by Lovingway Pentecostal church in Denver, she had never been afraid of being Jewish in the US.

There are a lot of ignorant people. It's not accurate to blame their actions on a movie or a TV show. If it wasn't "The Passion", there'd be some other reason they'd be acting out.

2. Yes, Mel Gibson is innocent with pure intentions.

After all, he "prays" for the Jews.

Spare me this absolution from responsibility.

4. If you know Christian zealots.(I know one) when they say they are praying

for the Jews, that means they believe Jews and all who don't believe in their brand of Christianity are doomed to hell unless they convert...That is what they are praying for...conversions...

5. Sorry, I don't think you can blame the actions of some kids on a movie...

...especially when the "message" is such an old one.

Just curious...do you know that they even SAW the movie? There ARE anti-semites that have never seen a Mel Gibson movie, you know...

...and putting out an anti-semitic movie that everyone hears about, reinforces their prejuidices and emboldens them to go spewing their hate.

-- sucks, but the drive-by hoodlums have no excuse for their conduct, no matter what movie they'd just seen, no matter what movie is first at the box office.

Assailants have needed less than nothing as an excuse to visit harm upon others for a long, long time before Mel ever made any movies.
