I just rented a place here in Columbus
Most of the properties I looked at were shown by property managers or people who own a lot of units. They wanted to run a credit report and pay stubs as proof of employment. x( In all the years I've rented or owned a home, I've never been late with a rent or mortgage payment.

I found a house on Craigslist during one of my insomnia episodes. It was built in the 1840's and is in remarkable condition. It's a little bigger than I need but the rent is in line with the city. I take possession on the 15th.

It has a small dorm refrigerator in it now and no washer/dryer. I don't have any appliances. I'll buy them when I can afford to. (The dryer I recently got is natural gas and will be sold. This one has to be electric)

I'm still scared, but I'd worry if I wasn't.

:toast:

To a new life in a familiar town.

2. Yep
Columbus, OH.

I've lived here for 14 years and moved last summer to Milwaukee for a job. I was laid off in January and have decided to come home.

Are you in Ohio?

18. Nope, not now!
Went to Miami, many years ago, tho; in-laws there, mostly in/around Dayton. Haven't been back in a long time.

Does it have those old radiators to heat up the house?

Hope everything works out well for you!

7. This one's been converted to forced air
central air and a furnace.

It has a DISHWASHER!! I haven't had one of those in a while. Also, there's a fireplace in the kitchen and one in the living room. The chimneys are very old and the fireplaces aren't functional. They're still gorgeous.

The house is all brick - 3 layers thick.

12. It's the economy that's allowed this to happen
He bought the house and when he got it renovated (minimal, all the floors, walls and woodwork are original), the market took a dive and he can't sell his house.

I'm getting a chance few get.

Oh, and he had someone else call to say they wanted it. He told me he put them off until he got my answer. He wants someone who will love the house and take care of it. :)

That house sounds fantastic. I simply adore old homes. For ambiance, you can always put candles in the fireplace(s).

Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I know this is another start for you, and the beginning of a lot of work. But it sounds like it's a move in the right direction.
