Anyone else seen the movie "Miracle"?
Highly recommended for all sports fans, whether you're into hockey or not. Really demonstrates the old-fashioned sporting values of teamwork, perseverance, hard work, and in a sense, humility.

Kurt Russell does his usual excellent job playing a guy you can't help but like even when he's a total jerk.

And they so easily could have packed every frame of this movie with a lot of jingoistic "U.S. #1!" horseshit, but they didn't. There is a little bit of flag-waving, but the coolest thing about this movie is that it just concentrates on the team and the game--so much so that even though you know how it turns out, you're on the edge of your seat to the very end.

1. Loved it
We have met Herb on a couple of occasions. He gave my daughter an autographed puck that says " Herb Brooks USA Gold 1980". He was a wonderful guy and loved talking to youth sports groups and amateur athletes. What did the movie leave out? And I know this as fact. You must remember that the game against the USSR was before the Gold metal game which we played the next day against Finland. The team was in the locker room and Herb was in his office. They were waiting for his speech and he just sat in his office. Finally it was time to take the ice and herb came in and all he said was "If you lose this, you will take it to your graves..... pause..... to your fucking graves". At that point those kids would have gone through the wall for him.

2. That's a great story!!!
Wish they could have left that part in, but I know that for the pacing of the movie, they had to stop with the USSR game.

He really sounds like quite a guy.

3. Ho-hoh, you're not gonna foll me twice, Disney.
Remember that god-awful movie "Remember The Titans"??? You're not laying any more sports-related movies on me, Disney. You've come a LOOONG way from the original "Mighty Ducks" and "The Little Giants".

I can't them anymore, that's why I'm no longer seeing anymore Disney sports-related films. Hell, I'm no longer seeing any Disney movies PERIOD.
