Question Re: High School Sports
This weekend is the state Girl's High School Basketball Championships, and since my local PBS station is in the middle of begathon month, making the viewing choices on my rabbit-ears TV dramatically less diverse. So , in order to alleviate boredom, I've been watching the games. Of course, since this is Wisconsin, the powers-that-be in the world of high school sports for some reason have yet to institute a shot clock for either boys or girls basketball at the highs school level in Wisconsin. I'm wondering if this is the case in other states, do other states do without a shot clock at the high school level?

So, I'm appealing to my fellow DUers who are in the know, does your state have a shot clock for boy's and girl's basketball at the high school level in your state?

3. CT does.
A score-keeping table error cost one of my friends in HS (she was 3 years behind me) a state semi-finals win and a spot in the state Class-S championship game when the dimwits failed reset the shot clock after a missed lay-up in the last 20 seconds of a tied game. We all noticed that the shot-clock wasn't reset but apparently neither the ref or the scorekeeper did. The other team scored off the violation and she lost.

She's kind of bitter about it. She assistant coaches NCAA D-I Women's Basketball now, so I guess everything worked out for her in the end. She was being scouted in HS for the WNBA but she never grew another inch after age 14 and 5'10 (that's what they officially rostered her at in college...I think it's a stretch as Liz doesn't strike me as 1/16" over 5'8") is too short for a pro basketball player.
