For me, it's "Hotel California."

1. "Amazed" by Lone Star.
ARRRRRRRRGGGGH!!!

That ought to be listed as an effective method of torture! I'd love to meet the asshole who signed those caterwhauling eunuchs to a recording contract! :grr::mad::argh: - me and my radio when that awful, AWFUL song comes on!

6. mostly everything that is played on commercial 70's
rehash radio, which is why I avoid it like the plague

Bob Seger would be a good start
although I do like Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses

also I Hate Everything About You ( on the supposed new music station)

just my opinion

2. I agree
I hate "Hotel California" too, but I have a varied and distinguished list of songs that will make me change the channel every time. Here's a couple.

"At Last" by Celine Dion. What kind of monster ego does it take to ruin that song? Etta James recorded the deathless version.

"Beast of Burden", the Stones. Love the Stones, but I'm sick to death of this song.

"Nights In White Satin". Yuuuuk.

Julie

Edited on Mon Mar-08-04 07:02 PM by LandOLincoln
I'm serious--they're my second all-time favorite band.

Okay, here's my revised top whatever:

1. L.A. Woman

2. Los Angeles

3. I Love L.A.

4. Under the Bridge

5. Warren Zevon's song. Actually, several of Zevon's , plus several of X's, plus most of The Doors', plus at least a couple of The Blasters', plus The Beach Boys, plus Jan & Dean, plus Dick Dale...

I could go on & on & on....

God I miss those that place and those times!

18. His "Dock of the Bay" was worse...
...if only because Percy Sledge only had one truly great single. Otis, on the other hand, stood alongside Cooke, Levi, Sam Moore, and the Godfather among the greatest soul singers (and among those, only J.B. could match him as a writer).

24. Actually, Percy Sledge made a lot of great records.
You just don't hear them on those worthless oldies stations! No, they'd rather play "Yummy, Yummy Yummy" and "Gypsys, Tramps and Theives" than Percy's "Warm and Tender Love" or "Take Time To Know Her," both of which were top twenty pop hits.

Fuckers.

I remember some friends and I going on a trip last year - that damn thing was playing in resturaunts in Vegas, LA, NYC, and NJ... in the airport lounge, while waiting in line at hotels, when turning on the car radio, and then one final time when we got back home and stopped for some food.

AHRGIEghierhgpiwerhg

Just so you don't someday pick it up and buy it by mistake.

Dobie Gray did the original. I can't remember who did the remake. Either Uncle Kracker or Hootie I think.

Can't say anything similar about the lame-ass Uncle Kracker remake, though. :(

'Living Next Door to Alice' by Smokie
LIVING NEXT DOOR TO ALICE

Sally called when she got the word
And she said "I suppose you've heard, about Alice"
Well I rushed to the window, and I looked outside
But I could hardly believe my eyes
As a big limousine rode up onto Alice's drive

Oh, I don't know why she's leaving,
Or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons
But I just don't wanna know
'Cos for 24 years
I've been livin' next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel
And maybe get a second glance
Now I gotta get used
To not living next door to Alice

We grew up together, two kids in the park
Carved out initials deep in the bark, me an' Alice
Now she walks through the door,
With her head held high
Just for a moment I caught her eye
As the big limousine pulled slowly
Out of Alice's drive

Then sally called back, and asked how I felt
And she said, "I know how to help, to get over Alice"
She said, "now Alice is gone, but I'm still here
You know, I've been waiting for 24 years..."
And the big limousine disappeared.

Oh, I don't know why she's leaving,
Or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons
But I just don't wanna know
'Cos for 24 years
I've been livin' next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel
And maybe get a second glance
Now I gotta get used
To not living next door to Alice

loser song about loser people.
