2. The pair of Golden Palominos albums from the 80s Visions of Excess and Blast of Silence
Have you heard them?

If not, they're new to you

I'm sure you've heard some of the people who performed on them: Michael Stipe, Jack Bruce, Johnny Lydon, Richard Thompson, Matthew Sweet, Bernie Worrell, and the proverbial much much more

I like the early 90s Lori Carson fronted ones too, but they're very different in tone and style.

Silbermond - German Rock Band

My latest discovery; I have a feeling you'll appreciate it:

The video is very edgy; The lead singer is singing in the middle of a street riot, a mob is wailing on the cops with sticks, tear gas flying one way, molotovs flying the other way.

Not the type of video that's likely to pass muster with US sensors.

29. Rough translation...
Tell me that this place is safe here
and everything is good here still.
And that the word that you give me today,
tomorrow you will keep.

This world is fast
and has constantly to be unlearned.
Because Temptations continue their deadline.
But please swear that when I come back,
everything will be the same.

Give me a little bit of security
in a world in which nothing seems safe.
Give me that one thing in this difficult time.

Give me just a little bit of grip.
And just cradle me to safety.
Get me out of this fast time.
Give me a little bit of speed.

Tell me that something still remains.

Even if the world goes,
that 'here' is not affected.
.. Nothing happens ..

Give me a little bit of security
in a world in which nothing seems safe.
Give me that one thing in this difficult time.

Give me just a little bit of grip.
And just cradle me to safety.
Get me out of this fast time.
Give me a little bit of speed.

Tell me that... something still remains.

62. I just discovered William Elliot Whitmore the other day.
He's this 30-year-old from Iowa who has the soul and voice of one of those ancient grizzled bluesmen.

From his lyrics, I'd say that he's probably not such a fan of the war or the bunch that started it either (although most of his songs aren't especially political)
