From my five-year-old, who's playing with his Matchbox cars in the next room

"I'm pretending that this Play-Doh is wet cement," he calls to me, "but it's not really wet."

"Okay."

"I didn't put it in my mouth," he says.

"Um," I say.

6. ROFL!
"So...that thing you might think I did when you really take a good look? Didn't. I swear. Just telling you now."

Sigh--gotta love 5YOs and their logic. I sure do love mine (and his 5,000 Matchbox cars...although he's never used his NOT wet Play-Doh with them...now I'm glad he can't read and adopt the idea...)

7. LOL! I always get more nervous when he reports on what he *didn't* do
Or when I overhear him advising his two-year-old brother on some "correct" course of action.

"You're not allowed to stand on the desk" or "Don't run with that spoon in your mouth."

Children are wonderful for making you worry about things that wouldn't even have occurred to you otherwise.

8. I remember one Christmas when my daughter was little, she said
"MawMaw told me not to tell you what she got you for Christmas. You are NOT GETTING a white sweater..." LOL

9. Parrots do the same sort of thing.
My folks know there's trouble when they hear their African Grey (Bongo) from the next room, yelling "No, Bongo, NO!!!"
