2. Is milk really all that good a source of calcium? Isn't most spent digesting milk fat?
As I understand it, you get better calcium retention with broccoli--tho of course your physician is a more reliable source than I am.

(I mean "source of information"; I don't think you should eat me or your doctor as treatment for osteoperosis).

4. Thank you for sharing
It is very scary but it sounds as though you are taking the best actions available. Good for you!
I must ask, how you found out? As a 53 year old woman it is a source of concern..

5. Go have a bone density scan.
You lay on a table and don't even have to take your clothes off. It's over in a matter of minutes. Now if only mammos were that easy. x(

6. I was told I had osteopenea at about the same age
you are now. I think the change in my diet to eating less processed food and more whole, home cooked food must have helped this, too, because I went for my bone density last year and no sign of the
osteopenea.

I found out I had it at the time because I had severely broken a leg and it wasn't healing at all.

You have to do what you have to do. It stinks but you don't want to make the situation any worse. Good Luck.

8. it can improve.
My mom was diagnosed with osteoporosis in her early 50s. At the time, she was told that she had the bones of a woman in her 90s.

Now, in her mid 60s, she's been downgraded to having osteopenia. Which, considering all the other health problems she has, is very good news. One less thing to be quite so worried about.

10. I'd die without Milk or Pepsi. And what is osteoperosis? Is that when your bones ache so bad?

13. have them check your Vitamin D levels, too...
Add weight bearing exericises - even walking is good.

Oh lots of Dark Green veggies and add soy products.

I was diagnosed with Osteopenia when I was about 42 as well. It's still "borderline" a - um - few - years later. . . :)

15. Apples
Apples have boron and that will help you absorb calcium.
What about calcium supplements? Taking a calcium and magensium tablet at night will help you relax and sleep.
