One week until baseball season begins!
Okay, technically there are two games on Sunday, but the "season" kicks off next Monday.

Next Monday, when the Boston Red Sox start their march towards another World Series victory.

for domination starts pretty soon...read it here folks, Ichiro will hit for 18 homers, 55 steals, hit for .333, and have about say...hmm, 255 hits.

And he will lead my team, to a WS crown....

I admit, having him back...is kinda nice, I just hope he doesn't get hurt, but "getting hurt" is his middle name.

I hope he at least sniffs 100rbi's, and 20plus homers....I'm sure the first home game, when he hits the field, Safeco will go, nuts....:D

Game 1: Franklin blows save
Game 2: Franklin blows save

They were in the Wild Card lead (Brewers in second) until that catastrophic series.

following your team every night on tv or the radio. People get really serious about that when the playoff chases begin. Not that I would know--I'm a Rangers' fan, so I'm not sure what a playoff chase looks like.

33. Wasn't really just talking to you
It just amazes me that the baseball world doesn't mention too much about the Rays this year. It's the same ol stuff - the Yankees sign every damned free agent known to man, and the press and public salivate. The Yankees remind me so much of my Dallas Cowboys - they can accumulate talent, but they don't have the chemistry.

38. Trouble is, the other teams won't be
'Til now, a series with the Rays has meant the better part of a week to rest your guys up, get your rotation in order, take a look at some of your bench players, etc. Now everyone's gonna be gunning for 'em. That's what makes it so tough to repeat.

Alas, that role will now be filled by the once-proud O's. :(

40. Hey, a year ago I said they were the sleeper
I said that they would finish second to the Red Sox and ahead of the Yankees and the overrated Blue Jays. I think that it's going to be the Sox and Rays again this year. The Yankees look like those Sox teams from the mid 1990s, with crummy back of the rotation pitching and fading position players.

35. Get back to us in August
Sabathia is a Bartolo Colon waiting to happen, and Burnett can't go three weeks without ending up on the disabled list. Aside from Texiera, most of the lineup is aging rapidly. Jeter, Damon, Posada, and Matsui are not what they were even three or four years ago.

Boston and Tampa Bay have deeper pitching staffs, which is going to be critical down the stretch.

I really thought after 2003 it'd be different since they got Carlos Delgado and Paul Loduca and DIDN'T trade away Cabrera or Willis. but then things fell apart, players got hurt, Miggy's ego got to big and he fought with McKeon and the firesale was on.

...but when the mighty Yankees sit atop the AL East at the end of the season, you'll know I was right all along. Your boys are getting old, fast, and the Yanks shed a lot of dead weight this offseason.

Ok, so we also picked up Sabathia, who is a lot of live weight, but he'll pull his fair share.

92. When Bartolo, er, CC is on the DL...
then get back to us. Thin pitching staff, aging lineup. This is a team that looks a lot like the lousy Sox teams from the Hobson/Kennedy era. Fading big names, lousy back end of the rotation, and a depleted farm system.

The Sox? John Smoltz is their freakin'#7 starter! You've got a fierce 1-2-3 with Beckett, Lester, and Matsuzaka, then Wakefield, Penny, Bard, and Buchholz, with Justin Masterson available as either a starter or reliever. Papelbon is a lights-out closer, and Okajima and Delcarmen are excellent set-up guys.

The only real trouble spot is at catcher, where Tek is clearly at the end of his run and neither George Kottaras or Dusty Brown look like long-term solutions.

Red Sox Nation doesn't know what jealousy is.

88. Hey BB!
:hi:

It's in the blood.

My uncle Ross worked spring trainings for both teams, and ran the Phillies ticket office from the mid 60's until the early 80's.

Dick Allen and Tony Taylor considered him a second father.

I have every Mike Schmidt card Topps, Fleer, Donruss and Upper Deck ever printed.

I also do the best Harry Kalas impression you've never heard.

:taunt: ;)
