How do I delete songs from an iPod?
Mr. got a new one at 'work' (or what passes for work) last week and is 'generously' giving me his Nano. :eyes:

I want to delete all the crap he has on there so I can put on my stuff ie Classic Rock.

Any help would be appreciated. The electronics guru, AKA DS1 was no help.

2. Dishwasher
Clean those songs right out. :)

In order to do this, you will want to hook up your iPod to your computer. Next, you will then want to delete the songs or playlists in iTunes and revise your iPod. iPod was not designed to delete songs or playlists off manually with out a computer.

3. You have to plug it in and go into iTunes.
I have mine set to manage music manually, rather than sync to iTunes, so I just go into the iPod music tab in iTunes and delete manually from there.

6. You are the only one I can count on for a normal answer.
It's quite sad how immature the 'grownups' are around here.

Thanks, dude.

4. You have to pry the case open with a screwdriver and scrape the old songs out.
Use lots of industrial-grade solvent. You don't need gloves, the tingle tells you it's working.

5. Another way is to have your own playlists on iTunes (if you share it)
Then, you just sync the playlists that you want.

8. Ooh, I may be PMing you for more information about that.
I think I'm the last person on the planet to get one, but I discovered I could play it in my car, so I'm psyched about that.

17. Sure. I'm kind of a technical idiot, but I did figure this one out.

:hi:

on edit: You can leave the songs in the general iTunes library, but if you don't put them in your playlist/s and don't choose playlists that contain them, they won't show up on your iPod ... but they will still be available for others to choose.

12. Yup. Plus, I think I'm the last American iPod holdout.

I like my music loud to sing along with, and an iPod wasn't cutting it for me. Then I found out I can play it through my car's speakers, so I am totally psyched.

:woohoo:

14. I was next-to-last
I bought an iPod a year ago, and just put songs on it in the last two weeks.

Is there an iPod remedial class we can go to? :woohoo:

15. Not the last
I can't have sticky things poking me in my ear. I'd miss birds tweeting and baby cries.

Hmm.. they hook to the car? Interesting.

:)

16. Yeah. Just found that out. My husband always has
his in his car and I was wondering out loud the other day why I couldn't do it in mine, because mine is newer.

When all else fails, read the owner's manual.

18. nope. I received a Nano for xmas and haven't even taken it
out of it's package yet. I had just bought a new mp3 player a few months before and I barely even use IT, let alone use a new ipod.

19. I just couldn't get past the whole earphones thing.
That would drive me nuts. Playing my favorite songs through my car's speakers though is a whole different level of awesomeness.

20. I didn't have an MP3 player until a couple of months ago.
Now I love that thing.

Still refuse to buy an iPod, though. I refuse to be one of those annoying "iPod people"

21. Plug iPod in.
Turn off auto-sync in the main iPod screen of iTunes. Select the songs you want off the iPod, then delete them (hit Delete or Backspace or whatever. Right-click -> "Delete" may also be an option). Select the new songs you want on there, drag them to the iPod icon the sidebar.

I don't know why anyone keeps auto-sync on all the time anymore.
