I have been able to think of nothing else and no one else since you left. I have been unable to sleep, unable to eat, just pacing and pacing and pacing and pacing hour after hour after hour.

My friends have told me to try to forget about it. My wife threatened to divorce me. My dog moved in with a neighbor and the cat has gone feral.

Even though it's spring, it's as if all the trees have died, and the grass has turned to dust.

I ask myself over and over and over and over and over why you left. Was it something I said, some thoughtless unspoken action, something I implied, or maybe that you mistook.

There seems to be no just answer, and so I drink, I drink, I drink, trying to put my mind what it was, what might have happened, but it does no good.

Still your absense seems reified, like an unrestrained wild monster from some ancient mythology, terrifying, onerous, pregnant with pernicious meaning.

How much I long, how filled by the emptiness, bereft of hope, naked beneath a burning cynic's sun, all heat and glare, dessicated, tried, discarded...

But let me pause in these exhausted ruminations to recognize that you have, at last, returned, and that some tear like liquid has soaked my ruined lips that I may hope to flow again...

Except for the eating, sleeping and pacing part. Oh, and the divorce thing. The cat is still around too.

Then I have a problem with the whole spring part. Maybe it is just me.

I don’t really wonder why he left for those few hours either; certainly I have been an asshole to him; but who hasn’t?

Can’t really drink much either, however the unrestrained monster resonates. And I am glad he is back, no one does non-sequitur better.
