This evening my friend, her BF, my GF, and I were at a karaoke bar and some stupid jerks right by us were saying sick jokes about "getting some sluts drunk and raping them" which caused my friend to have horrible flashbacks and we had to leave. :cry: I was THIS close to pummeling the creeps. :grr:

My friend was raped by some asshole at a frat party who slipped something in her drink and raped her in his room while the party was still going on. She'd just tense up anytime someone near her would joke about how he "totally raped his midterm" or make a roofies joke or whatever. I realize it's trendy in our culture turn wildly inappropriate and vulgar things into humor, but people *really* need to think about the repercussions their idle words have. Someone's idea of an irreverent joke might be someone else's nightmare. When in doubt, don't be a douchebag and insist that your "right" to be offensive trumps someone else's pain.

Honestly, 99% of the world's problems could be solved if people would just follow that simple maxim.
