Interesting. I was on a job site in the Philly area yesterday, and apparently there had been a theft

of about 100K feet of Category-6 UTP data cabling.

Then I read a post here by someone wanting to melt down copper.

Hmmm. :think:

Though, I would suggest stripping the wire of it's insulation or you will die from the fumes of the insulating jacket(s).

2. Well, there are probably unscrupulous contractors that
would buy the stuff and install it in the residential market.

You might be able to sell it to a junk dealer, though a lot of those guys won't touch the stuff, unless it really looks like material that can from a site being demo'd.

Melting it down, yourself, no.

4. Most of the stuff we installed in the office environment is plenum rated and costs
$300/1000ft. It ain't cheap.

6. Have you seen some of the new termination assemblies for Cat-6
cabling? Pretty slick!

I'm going to the BICSI Conference in Baltimore next week.
