1. He makes a good point about Wal*Mart, too
Years back, Wal*Mart refused to carry some insignificant band's CD (I think it was Insane Klown Posse). However, they carried the hard-R rated Bad Lieutenant, complete with extended full frontal shots of ol' Harvey and a whole lot of shooting up. And it's not as though the dialogue is family-friendly, either.

The issue isn't censorship, because a private company can choose not to sell whatever it wants. But a consistent application of their obscenity policy would be nice.

3. It's censorship by a corporation rather than a state.
I have a hard time thinking of a gigantic, publicly-traded corporation as "private." We should invent a third catagory for such businesses: public, private and corporate.

4. Not a bad idea
But until the corporation actually makes the laws (rather than simply buying legislators) and can actually ban the item (rather than simply choosing not to sell it), then it's not censorship.

Well, I guess it's censorship in a generic "they prevent us from buying it" sort of way, but that's manifestly different from an all-out legal ban on the distribution of something.

6. We need to make free speech laws apply to the corporate sector too.
Such bullshit if you ask me, and Trent is 100% right.
