I'm powerless over shoes and my life has become unmanageable.
Don't really care about clothes much. I buy most of mine at resale shops, and dress pretty simply. It's shoes that I find myself buying. I try to justify it by saying I'm veg*n and try to buy American, or at least not sweatshop made. So, when I find a good pair of American made synthetic shoes, I MUST buy them. I may never find another pair!

Most recent purchase: New Balance 497s on clearance sale for $50.

And, of course, I'll wear them until they fall apart...or until I find another such bargain.

It's true. I'm addicted.

1. That's a good deal for American made New Balance shoes.
I can usually find a pair for about that price at the Nordstrom Rack, which is nice because I don't have to pay for shipping or worry that they may not fit when they arrive.

2. It really is a good deal.
And I've had enough New Balance that I know their 7 fits me. The shipping wasn't too bad, either. Most of the shoe places around here only sell Chinese-made. We don't have a Nordstrom's or other better department stores. It's mostly Payless, Famous Footwear, that sort of thing. There is one locally-owned shoe store, but they pride themselves on selling nothing that isn't leather :eyes:. I did special-order a pair of New Balance through them last year. to support a local business. But the whole thing about only selling leather is irritating. So, I buy 'em online.

3. I know I need a 9 1/2, but depending on the style I might need
the extra wide or just the wide. That depends, so I prefer to try them on and see.

4. Makes sense. I'm a 7 medium width. In this, as in so many things,
I'm just not that interesting. It's nice to be able to order things as I can. But it makes sense in your case to be able to try them on. It'd be a real pain around here, though.

6. I know! Everybody growing up told me I'd be tall,
because both of my parents are on the tall side (mom is 5'7", Dad is 6' even) and my feet were enormous. I was about the right size for my age group until eleven or so, then everybody else had another growth spurt or two and I didn't. On the upside, if bad eighties outfits from 5-7-9 ever come back into style, my clothes from junior high would still fit.

Plus my feet grew when I was pregnant. I went from an 8 1/2 or 9 wide to a 9 1/2, and it wasn't water because they never did get smaller afterward. I suppose my kid will have to be an only child because if that happens again I'd have to start special ordering shoes.

My best friend wears a 10 or so (she also mostly buys mens shoes) but she's 5"11".

10. If I had a baby, she would have the best collection of shoes
this side of Imelda Marcos!! It's just as well I'm not responsible for another human being.

Btw, it's time for a new baby pic. I haven't "awww"ed lately. :)

12. Try Simple Shoes!
http://www.simpleshoes.com/

The shoe's made of hemp, the sole is made of recycled tires, the laces are made of recycled plastic bottles, and they're made right here in America. O8)
