I just got one, and I love it already. Very easy to set up, and no viruses so far. :bounce:

20. You've got me beat.
We've been using Macs only since 1992.

Mac Classic2 was the first - it's now a doorstop.

36. I started on a Mac SE
It ran at a blistering 8 MHz, had an 800K floppy drive, 1MB of RAM and a whopping 20MB of hard drive space.

The ones I used in one of my layout classes didn't even have hard drives! They had two floppy drives, instead. One floppy held the OS and some applications, and the other was for your personal files. At least it was easier to copy disks on that one than on a single-floppy-drive Mac--no endless switching disks back and forth!

I still miss those little Macs, sometimes. :)

52. Great picture
I remember working on a movie where the production office was using an SE30 that they had juiced up with an extra drive - they did all the accounting and call sheets.

I kind of miss my old really slow MacClassic 2 - sometimes.

9. Me me me! iMac 24" (which use top-end H-IPS display panels, 2.93GHz CPU) and 15" MacBook Pro
(2.66GHz CPU, 4GB, as it was too chancy to open the case and replace the low end macbook pro's RAM due to one overtightened screw and wreck the warranty)

College was a turning point, being so blasted angry at Microsoft's lack of responsibilities being another, and Pierre.Suave helping me with some tips and suggestions...

11. have a 1st g iMac, without the camera built in.
Have you noticed the difference in how long it takes for a Windows machine to start up vs a Mac? I had Webtv & it took long enough for me to brush my teeth & brush my hair before it was fully on. The Mac was a shock, once I signed in-bam, it's up. Toshiba Satellite laptop surprised me, it takes a while to come fully on, too much like the Webtv & it has a bigger processor & more memory than the Mac.

You Mac though runs Windows, so be careful. People can hit your computer, even mine, it's just a little more difficult.

my family's first computer (when I was in middle school) was a Mac Quadra. Been using them ever since

funny, too how that happened. Our friend worked at Microcenter, and he happened to get transferred into the mac department shortly before we bought ours. He therefore got a mac discount.

Thank god for the transfer :D

27. Started with one when I began graduate school, in '92.

Have not enjoyed the times when Macs weren't available (though, in academia, that was a distinct rarity). Currently have a titanium Powerbook G4 that is somehow still soldiering on, barely (has hardly ever been turned off in over five years, and that thing gets HOT), and a new 24" iMac that I bought recently to replace it. Actually, in storage I still have a functioning Mac laptop from the mid-90s. My first desktop computer was a Power Computing Mac clone (remember those?) that was state of the art at the time -- a 2GB hard drive!!!! -- and that I left behind when I left the dysfunctional island that was my home base earlier this decade.

Don't have or need the iPhone or iPod or any of the other gadgets that Apple's making money from these days, but when it comes to computers I'm firmly a Macintosh type.

31. My one experience with a Mac was an epic fail
Not long after the 1 year warranty expired, it died and it would have been $900 to fix. I can buy 2 PCs for the amount it would have cost to fix the iMac.

40. Of all the non-bootcamp solutions, Fusion is the best.
IMHO, but many reviews show the same.

A lot of people complained about 'Parallels' and the lack of stability... Fusion just seems more streamlined, more integrated into OS X, more stable, and faster.

44. Me! Me!
Been Mac only since '96. I've had...er...four so far (two right now--one iBoob that's old and slow, and one MacBook which is like an extra appendage). I've been forced to use PCs in the workplace, though.
:puke:

You will continue to love your Mac! Let the PC-ers fight the ongoing virus battle--you will be relaxed and peaceful in the knowledge that you are practically immune! :) It's a beautiful thing.
