It's not like they watch TV or a computer, they just... stare. Esthers been sitting on the floor, looking around, staring for the past 20 minutes. What in the world could they be thinking about?

5. ya know, that may not be far from the truth
Esther is, um, a big girl, so she can't quite bend far enough to clean "down there." But she eventually figured out that she can use her front paw to lift up her folds and clean farther down.

Hi,
Oh boy, thanks for that one. I had a rough week so I am thanking everyone that gives me a laugh tonight!

But just how many different ways are there for a cat to do that??

Peace

6. Murder, perhaps.
Not too long ago, The Onion ran a pic of an adorable kitten with the caption: "Kitten thinks of nothing but murder all day." Made me watch my cats a bit more closely, I must say.

12. No kidding. Three days after my sweet old cat died, the two 'boys' started staring
then jumping and playing with something I could not see. They stopped moping around looking for my old girl. I really wonder if she was back playing with them, not old and frail anymore.

17. A couple of months after we got Zeldy, he went into the basement
He was obsessed with going into the basement, and would hang around the place where one of our cats chose to breathe his last breath, meowing pathetically. Cats are so much more attuned to things than we are.

25. Have you seen "Catnip Video?"
Believe it or not, it's a video for cats -- this one is 2 hours of activity at a backyard bird feeder. My cats never tire of it. If they're bugging me or just lying around being fat little (or not so little) furry blobs, I pop it in for them. They go bonkers!* I also bought one for my "niece cats" and they also love it.

28. Thank you! Believe it or not, we do have a small collection of videos
just for The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger. :D One of his favorites is a German documentary about cats and rodents living in Germany's sewer system. He also enjoys stuff about "big cats," wild birds and, strangely, a veterinary/rescue program on German TV. These all give me time to read in bed before Ginger gives me the "lights on NOW" look. :yoiks:

30. I know that "look"!
Actually, it's my dog that tells me it's time for night night. I'll be reading while he's gnawing on his chewy. He'll stand up, stretch, and come crawl under the covers. Time for night night, the doxie says!

40. I can't believe I didn't notice before now that you're a doxie mom!
I grew up with a doxie named Oscar (RIP). I was the only person in the family he'd never bitten; he kinda got vicious after my mom flea dipped him when he was about two years old, poor little guy. My parents now have a much sweeter miniature doxie named Molly -- all she wants to do is play frizbee all day long and chase the hummingbirds. I'm a BIG fan of dachshunds.

Yep. Someday. When I have thumbs it'll aaallll be different. You just watch, hooman. You think you can run things because you have thumbs and I don't. But when I have 'em, you just wait. We'll just see who's boss. I'll be able to open doors and work the can opener and... maybe even drive your car. Me and Fluffy, together. That would be so cool.
