California man eats 1/2 pound burger in 1 minute 51 seconds, wins $100 gift card

To celebrate the grand opening of its newest restaurant, at 27250 Fifth Ave. in Highland, the Inland-based Farmer Boys chain recently had a contest to see who could devour one of its signature half-pound Farmer's Burgers in the quickest time.

According to a statement by the Riverside-headquartered company, 11 hungry contestants took on the challenge, with John Parmer of Highland scarfing his burger down in 1 minute, 51 seconds. He took home the grand prize of a $100 Farmer Boys gift card, and his feat will be immortalized with his picture and the winning time posted in the Highland restaurant.

If this had been an Olympics event, Carl Laumer of Highland (with a time of 2:32) would have taken home the silver medal; with the bronze shared by Highland's Dave Zeller and Colton's Phillip Botello (2:43).

pounds. I'm making my way up to Nathans! I'm glad to see this
small feat of mine has made it around the world! I was still
41 seconds ahead of the next closest contestant and I made
sure my tray was spotless.
