The only 'style' I find here is snark
Another barb lobbed at middle Americans. Especially the oversize ones:

1. It's not even snarky. Snark can be witty.
This is just snotty.

OMG, a size 10! Unfit to live.

2. What? I'm a size ten
and am in the mid-range for my weight category. I'm just tall.

10. Just being sarcastic about the writer's attitude.
I think size 10 is just right.

4. I'm larger than average and never wear big shorts or flip flops. Nor do I waddle.
Idiots.

6. The whole fashion industry just annoys me in general.
It's overwhelmed by a bunch of shallow, materialistic a-holes.

15. I've never known it to be anything different from that, though.
Aesthetics is all-important. Function? How droll.

7. The woman I love will never be mistaken for the venus de milo...
But I will never be mistaken for Michaelangelo's david either.

11. By that writer's idiotic standards Venus de Milo would be considered overweight.
I suspect writer is no oil painting. She probably has a rotten complexion, dried out hair, eyes like two piss holes in the snow and claws for hands from living on cigarettes, martinis and lettuce leaves.

19. And even if she doesn't, she ought to look to the appearance of her soul...
for if her writing offers any idea of the way it looks, she needs help.

8. Coming from the great unwashed living in Upstate New York,
I've noticed that folks from the City spend a lot of time on their appearance because they don't seem to have much else to do.

13. I gotta admit, this line made me laugh:
"The few clothing items that are made of cotton make a sincere point of being cotton and tell you earnestly about their 100-percent cottonness with faux-hand-scribbled labels so obviously on the Green bandwagon they practically spit pine cones."

As for the rest, this is the style section of the NY Times. What did you expect?

14. Apparently she "apologized" twice on her blog...
"Frankly, people, I think this has all gotten a bit ridiculous.

You know I didn't mean it that way, so please remove the knot from your panties and when you're ready, join me for a cigarette and several Pucker martinis at the insouciant end of the pool, and I'll tell you all about the time I inadvertently alienated my best friend for a year when I wrote an article about her wedding.

Insensitively yours,"

And the second one....

"Because of my personal beliefs as a Buddhist, I very much regret that my JC Penney article in the Times caused any wounded feelings whatsoever, particularly to people who already feel they take more than their share of abuse from our very shallow and ridiculous society. I was not sensitive enough to this, and the extent to which my article exacerbated these feelings is a very real failure on my end for which I sincerely apologize."

http://www.cintrawilson.com/

I wonder how many angry letters it took for her to issue these "apologies" :eyes:

out-of-touch New Yorker who mistakenly believes she dwells in the hippest city on earth.

New Yorkers, bless their deluded little heads, are so sorely out of touch.
