Good morning Lounge
Edited on Thu Sep-24-09 03:30 AM by MissHoneychurch
How are you today?

So I went to the bookstore yesterday after work - bad idea. They had the new Terry Pratchett novel available. A new discworld book "Unseen Academicals" http://www.amazon.com/Unseen-Academicals-Terry-Pratchett/dp/0061161705/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253779544&sr=8-1 Can't wait to read it. But first I need to finish the Jo Nesbo mystery "The redeemer" http://www.amazon.com/Redeemer-Harry-Hole-Mystery/dp/B001V7V8GG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253779720&sr=1-1

Yesterday we had a beautiful sunny and warm day. Today it is overcast and just depressing.

After work I will meet with a friend. I wanted to meet with her yesterday already but I was so tired I asked to change it to today. So today it is.

I talked to my mom yesterday. Told her that I started going swimming. Instead of praising me at least a bit she got kinda snappy and told me I also need to climb the stairs to my condo (10th floor). Thank you mom. I know I am overweight. You don't need to rub it in every time I talk to you. I know you are worried. But your approach isn't exactly what I need and want. You just make me feel bad.

What a cool picture! Have fun with your friend later on. I'll be resting. I'm a little sick today.
Sorry about your mom. It sounds like she cares just doesn't know how to communicate it well. Try to be kind to yourself.
Goodnight! :loveya: :hi:

I see your thread sometimes at 4pm here and realize it's much later there. You still put a smile on my face even that late in the day.

13. Good morning !
Wow great picture,I forgot the name of that tower but with the fog it looks
like something from a Sci-Fi movie.
Jo Nesbo ? Hey I've read 2 of his novels:The Snowman and...The redeemer.
Really good book, the bad guy is so creepy ! The Snowman is also a great
thriller,a little bit better than The redeemer IMHO.

So you speak Norwegian too ? :P
Lol! Yeah I've read the French translated version,it's easier to get sucked
in the story that way.

Have a great time with your friend ! :loveya:

It is the Europaturm (Tower of Europe). I liked how the fog just showed the top part and that the sun already started to come through.

Haven't read The Snowman yet. I read all the others so. He gets better with every book. And I read them in German :)

15. "I read them in German"
For some reason I had the intuition that it was the case.:)

The vast majority of what I read was originally written in English but I'm more
comfortable with the translation plus they only have a small number of books in
English at the Library. The Snowman is really good, that's the first Nesbo novel that
I've read and will go for the other ones as soon as I can.

I only know Terry Pratchett from the video games that take place in the Discworld
universe. If the books are as twisted and funny as the games it must be a lot of
fun to read. :)

there are quite some books I read in English. Like Terry Pratchett. Or Ian Rankin. Or Kathy Reichs ... or or or. :D

The books are hilarious. They are twisted and funny. You ought to try reading one or two. "Guards Guards" is one of his best books http://www.amazon.ca/Guards-Terry-Pratchett/dp/0552134627/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253792078&sr=8-22

16. Good morning MissH!
Fabulous, fabulous picture!

Oh good, book suggestions. Unseen Academicals I just may skip, I've never heard of Jo Nesbo mysteries, so I just may give them a try. Should I read them in order or is it okay to start with "The Redeemer".

And thank you so much for the recipe. I'll try it soon. I'm a little concerned though, that it calls for a whole cup of peanut butter, but I'll give it a shot.

Sorry about your mom's comment. YOu know she cares, but maybe you should have a talk with her on her way of expressing it. Well, maybe. Sometimes with mom's is best just to "listen".

:hi:  :loveya:

If you want to take less of the peanut butter go ahead. Try it and add some more if needed. I told you it isn't a calory free recipe ... LOL
The German recipe asks for 175g .... I can't tell you how many cups that is.

It would be better to read the Jo Nesbo mysteries in order. Even though the first two aren't his best books. But it helps you to understand the main character.

I know my mom cares. I told her before that I don't need to hear it again and again. Guess it didn't help.

20. Actually, the peanut butter
ratio sounds right. I'll play around with the recipe, I know it will be good.

Your mom? Guess it's just one of those mother comments we have to listen to and not respond. *sigh*

I'm adding the Jo Nesbo mysteries to my long list of books to read. I'll be picking up "Disgrace" ( http://www.amazon.com/Disgrace-J-M-Coetzee/dp/0140296409 ) by J.M. Coetzee for my book club, so I'll be reading that first.

23. That is the best way
try out which amount is the best. You have to taste the peanut though in the stew :)

Yes, it was one of those "concered mom" comments. I think what annoyed me was that I am showing effort and still it isn't enough *sigh*

"Disgrace" sounds like a tough book to read. Let me know if you liked it. I never read any of his books.

25. Yes, mom's can be
exasperating, can't they. I personally would not want to walk up 10 flights of stairs. Tell her that would be bad for your knees.

Anyway, it sounds like your water workout suits you. The key is to find something that you enjoy. I should really be working out on the rowing machine, but I just can't bring myself to do that right now. I'm truly burnt out on that machine, so I swim laps which I really like. I figure it is better to do something than nothing at all.

Gotta head out. Dropping my car off for an oil change then off to work.

Wishing you a great day.

are the footnotes. They crack me up.

Books are piling up beside my bed too. When my grandma left for my mom's place I gave her a bunch of books to take back. Mom, her bf and I are very good at exchanging books. One buys the book, three read it.

54. I like that
I tend to exchange books with my mother, but we have very different tastes. There's this awesome place near me called "The Book Thing." It's basically a book exchange, lots of people donate books, and you can go and take as many as you want. I try and exchange books every month or so. The guy who runs it started it because he realized that there were people in the neighborhood who had so little money that they literally could not afford to buy books, and he wanted to make sure that everyone had the chance to have books that were their own. Now the place has hundreds (thousands?) of books. It's kind of a game of chance, though. You never know if the selection will be good or bad.

Sorry about your mom. I am older than you and my mom STILL makes those type comments. It is very hurtful I know, but we have to remember they don't mean it to be. I guess it's just a mom thing.:pals:

You are doing the right thing by going swimming and like Callalilly says, it's important to find things you like to do. And I am totally with Tobin as far as the offers I am sure you would get on DU! At any rate, it's not healthy to obsess about your weight - as long as you are fit, the actual weight is not so important.

43. Good morning Tuesday
:hi:  :loveya:

Yes, I took the pictures yesterday morning from my bedroom window. What do you think? Is that a good entry for the seasonal contest?
