My own dog is almost 10 - old for his breeds and size - and has a large tumor in his thorax pressing on his throat. Vet says it is a very difficult operation and we are treating him with prednisone, which seems to be doing him good.

I heard the old song "Bojangles" about the dying dog this morning at the Dr's office and had tears in my eyes....

I am so terribly sorry for your loss, and I've lost a number of pets myself. So I definitely understand. She was an absolute beauty, and it's obvious she was loved and cared for.

I don't know if this will help, but it has helped me: try to understand that you were an excellent parent and, as such, provided the kind of life she deserved to have. You were great for and to her from the beginning to the end, and I'm glad she had you.
