and many others who aren't here anymore. It's not so hard to find the lost if you really want to, and they want you to. I've been fortunate in that I have found my buddys in various places... Although DU brought us together initially, we have found each other...we hardly ever talk about DU, except for issues in the news. Otherwise, it's mostly about personal stuff like children, vacations, elderly parents, health, jobs or job-searching, etc., the same old stuff that that all friends talk about IRL. However, now we're free to enjoy our irreverent humors. There are no secret societies, no special handshakes...just word of mouth to say "here we are."

51. I have to say that I am very thankful for other places so that I can

keep up with friends I have made here. I hate to see people go that I have formed friendships with. FB is great for these reasons. SouthoftheBorderPaul is one of those. I can keep up with him on FB, and who knows the last time he posted here. We used to interact here, but he was a very irregular poster. I don't even know if he is still a member here. And of course many other of my DU friends. I love them all. I would hate if I never got to hear from them again.

He was a lawyer like me...law school is a 3 yr. boot camp to scramble your brains so that you see all logical sides of an argument. Every life situation, professional or personal, becomes a Rubik's cube. It's not an easy way to process information, however, once you're trained, you have to live with it and make go where you want to go. Bake did it better than most.

on edit: There are a lot of good public defenders and public interest lawyers out there. We're not all bad. Our interests are upholding the Constitution and making sure it doesn't come back to bite your ass.
