1. Denis Leary is about as funny as Timothy Leary without the chemicals.
At least Robin Williams had WRITERS scripting his schtick back in the day.
Leary never had that.

Neither of them were ever "funny"; Williams just had a year or so
where "Middle America" thought he was a genius...
before "middle America" found COCAINE available on a regular basis
on Main Street in small towns.

Leary is a whiney asshole, and Williams is a mediocre coke addict.
Neither of them have ever been "funny" when they weren't reading a SCRIPT.

2. I'm going to go against the grain and vote for Robin Williams.
At least Leary stole his act from Bill Hicks, who was genuinely funny.

3. Leary bombards your senses so that when he says the word fuck, you laugh. Williams...
is just tiresome, doing the same old routine and not letting anyone else talk. But it gives you the time and space to realize you're wasting your time listening to him. At least with Dennis Leary you don't realize until later, when you can breathe again, that it was shit.

if you spelled Denis Leary's name right.

9. They're both still alive?
Williams was the funniest person alive for a long time. I haven't seen him in so long I don't know what he's up to.

Leary was good for the first week or two he was famous. Then he just sounded bitter. To me he became a decent actor after that, which I guess means that if someone else tells him what to say and how to say it, he can do it, but if he has to judge what's funny, he's lost. Plus, when Bill Hicks died he had no one else to imitate. Not that Hicks was funny, either. Just more original.

11. Hey--if your idea of humor is an angry guy who curses and screams a lot, Leary's okay...
....thankfully, that's not my type of humor.

It's not that I don't find Robin Williams unfunny per se...its more like he's just too exhausting and overwhelming for my taste.

17. Leary was pretty good in "Suicide Kings"...
...although it was more of a "black comedy-drama"...

"So you're wearing FISH BOOTS?"

16. Robin Williams is hilarious when you're seven
and don't know better.

Denis Leary is hilarious when you're fourteen and don't know better.

So I'll have to go with Robin Williams.

Leary in Rescue Me, The Ref...
Williams in Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society...
