Please go to hell. Every faker, phony, lameo wannabe that has taken the place of deserving, hardworking, high quality bands -- on behalf of them all. FUCK YOU.

Was in a store today with radio station playing all sorts of lameo male whinge rockers, including the worst of them all JOURNEY and more modern whiners... when I hear the likes of mush mouth blues guy, Jennifer Anniston's boy toy, I wanna smack him upside the head and say DEAL. He makes Dave Matthews sound good for gawd sake and I still can't recall his fucking name.

Dunno if anyone will check out my answer to the hauntingly, beautiful question so I linked it:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=9060713&mesg_id=9065688

When ya go to the source and honor it and realize how many fucking phonies and poseurs are just taking up valuable space, it really is a travesty.

4. and one day
you will like all the bands and eras they have ripped off and reduced to pathetic mewlings. :yourock:

Even if they weren't so fucking lame, I don't buy it as heartfelt. If you do, that's great. And there's more for you to discover.

5. I like them.
I don't judge what other people listen to. If I don't like something,I don't listen to it,I don't say it sucks, because it is a matter of taste.

6. Point well taken. The offense
is when these bands are groomed and astroturfed product to displace those who -------- GASP!!!!! --------- may actually be BETTER OR MORE DESERVING ARTIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You post plenty about classic songs. You must have some historic perspective on the industry.

11. Coldplay isn't really bad, they're just exceptionally mediocre.
They have a few songs that are nice.

But they certainly don't have talent to match how they're regarded, considering how they're basically just a watered-down less artistic version of Radiohead.

13. Some points.
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 01:00 AM by Forkboy
1 - If the music I like was popular it would soon be just as homogenized and watered down as pop is now.

2 - If the music I like was popular more bozos would go to the shows, and instead of paying 10 bucks to see a band in the comfy confines of a club, where I can probably even get to talk to the band, they would soon be playing big arenas where I'd have to pay exorbitant amounts to sit so far away that I couldn't even be certain it was the real band members.

3 - If my music was popular I'd hear it all the time, and I would quickly burn out even the bands I love the most.

4 - Different strokes for different folks. I like that I can walk around my neighborhood and hear a half dozen types of music from different cultures and attitudes, even if I don't really like the music itself.

5 - I listen to things like Burzum and Emperor, ruling me out of any judgment on other's music.

17. I know and love a band more obscure than you do...
Cold play is nice music easy to listen to and very professionally put together...

Not my favorite, not even in my top 25, but you gotta hand it to them, they know how to write a song that appeals across genre lines...

My feeling is this, every time they bust to the top of the charts, they knock off Brittney or Lady GaGa or some Simpson or any more of that repackaged overproduced disco music that goes all the way back to Annette Funicello singing Jo Jo The dog Face Boy....

That, my friend, it the real reason to like, or at least appreciate, Cold play.

22. While I generally don't like John Mayer...
He actually plays some pretty good blues guitar on his cover of "Route 66" on the "Cars" soundtrack. That being said, the only other songs of his I can stand are "No Such Thing" and "Neon".

And, yeah, I think Susan Boyle could beat the shit out of Britney Spears and Mariah Carey, and wish she would.

27. Why is it so fashionable to pick on Coldplay here in the U.S.?
However abominable you may think they are, they are 1000000000000000000% better than 99% of the crap on the radio nowadays (and yes, most people still listen to commercial radio, whether we music snobs like it or not).

I don't find the same angst toward Coldplay in Europe that exists in the U.S.

Now, Paramore sucks balls IMHO.

28. Wait, so let me get this straight....
You're railing against soulless corporate rock/pop yet you're touting the guy responsible for this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa1IRGtp9Gw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0UZWywmavk&feature=related

Really?

I mean that's some pretty neutered, harmless singer/songwriter fluff pop (also on a corporate label). The way you are ragging on people in this thread I thought you're links were going to to something ridiculously obscure and outsider non-corporate music, or even something exceptionally musically challenging.
