Please send good vibes for my doggie.
I woke up this morning and noticed Mimic, my 5 year old JRT, had cloudy, bluish eyes that were watering really bad. She was also squinting a lot or just keeping them closed. I took her to the vet and was told she has anterior uveitis (inflammation in her eyes) caused by something internal. The vet ran some basic blood work and all came back within normal range but he is sending it off for further testing as well a sample of fluid from her eyes. The results will be back on Monday.

The vet said it could be related to a number of things - liver disease, kidney disease, pancreatitis, or something with her endocrine system like thyroid or cushings. He sent us home with some prednisone eye drops and gave me his cell number just in case I need to call him on Sunday.

My poor baby looks so miserable - I can't believe she can actually see but the vet said she can. I know she is hurting because she will occasionally whimper and she tries to rub her eyes with her paws.

It is going to be a long night and a very long Sunday. Monday cannot get here quick enough so I can find out the results of the lab test.

This is a google picture of a dog with anterior uveitis - both of Mimic's eyes look just like this:

Here is a picture of Mimic from earlier today - she keeps her eyes squinted or closed:

This is how she normally looks:

FYI...my girl dog just got over a severe bout of pancreatitis...she is better now, and so are her eyes.

Best wishes for your pup to be healthy...

6. That is great to hear. Did her eyes turn cloudy?
I had another JRT that had pancreatitis but nothing showed in his eyes. He just had take medicine and switch to a sensitive stomach food.

Mimic's eyes just really have me upset.

11. Minimus...
She was so sick...the worst night, her eyes looked terrible and she would not leave my side. Very dull and cloudy.

The next day, she turned the corner and her eyes slowly cleared.

I know how you are feeling right now...it looks pretty scary, but let's hope that this is a case of "it looks worse than it is".

15. thank you, your baby is gorgeous.
As you can see, my Jack Russell was not into the whole photo op thing. She is getting old and the older Jacks get the more ornery they become.

:hi:

8. Thanks everyone - for the well wishes and good vibes.
I am a nervous wreck so it really is helping. Mimic is sleeping on the sofa right now and I keep looking to make sure she is still breathing.

9. Poor baby. I hope she is very well soon.

I am sorry she is going through this. :(

We have one dog with cancer right now, though he doesn't know it. He was only briefly in slight pain. And we have another dog with back pain from slipped disks who is on painkillers and anti-inflammatory meds. It is agonizing when your pet isn't well and there isn't anything you can do to help. Especially when your pet is in pain, I know I was to do anything to make my Coco's pain go away. :(

I wish your Mimic the best, and you too.

Some of those conditions mentioned are eminently treatable so I hope it's one of them. Tell Mimic we're pulling for her.

22. My dog had that in one of his eyes several years ago.
We never found the cause to it but after the drops, I've just watched him and it hasn't come back. My vet also gave me something for him to take for the pain because she said it was generally pretty painful.

I will keep thinking good thoughts for your little friend.
