i called out to him and he ran up to me and jumped in my arms and started nuzzling my face.

he's been eating to beat the band.

there are some truly worthless pieces of shit out there.

i named him Captain Winky.

5. my earlobes and nasus are not lactating.
but i went and got him some cat food and he eats what i eat when i eat.

he is going to grow to be a BIG BOY. he's got a really fluffy tail and long hair.

i still cannot believe how fucked up people can be. there was NOTHING this cat could do to help itself where i found it.

12. yeah
he was behind westbrook hs, on some road they built back to a bayou, there wasn't any traffic, but i went back later to see if they even left any food or anything, and they didn't. just dropped the cat off. he's used to being around people, and there aren't any houses near there. so it was on purpose. it made me very angry.

21. I'm with ya--sometimes our species just sux out loud!
I rescued a little calico foundling in 1979, and like yours she was not completely weaned. She suckled the bath mat for a few weeks, as well as fingers and toes.

We called her "Regatta" because we'd just come from a Police concert, and that was their LP at the time. And the happy story is: Regatta lived until the year 2000! My sister took over her care, and she was a happy, healthy kitty all her life.

It just takes one human (you) to care for an abandoned animal. Your actions are making up for the fuckwad who deserted such a helpless baby. And I bet Cap'n Winky lives even longer than Regatta did!

One caveat: make sure your beautiful, black kitten goes nowhere NEAR the outdoors this month! I got my black Bombay 2 weeks after Halloween because she was dumped in the shelter, but sick sociopaths do a lot worse things to black cats this time of year!:grr:

23. Too many people dump animals thinking they can survive.,
Edited on Sun Oct-11-09 07:24 PM by AsahinaKimi
My friend works in LA as a volunteer for Cat Rescue. It seems people think these cats can survive in the wild living on field mice or something.. They can not! I understand that in bad financial times its hard to have a Pet, which is why many of the ASPCA's now have free donated food for animals. I have had to use the free food myself for a while.. and I could never get rid of my cat.

Pet owners are also Pet Guardians.. My cat is an indoor cat. He can not go outside and play or he would be crushed by a car, killed by another animal ..or get fleas and tics which could kill him in the long run, not to mention bringing fleas into my place. He is better off inside with me.

People need to learn about the animals they have as Pets before buying one. You don't dump a cat..or dog and think they can survive.. Getting all their shots plus spay and neutering a cat is important too.

Thank you for being a Pet rescuer..I hope this kitty has found a nice new home.

28. Looks like a pretty big cat...
not to argue, but that picture makes him look almost fully grown.

Kudos to you for taking him in and looking out for him!

Black cats are great, but I seem to get along better with orange cats for some reason. From my experience, the black ones have been independent and aloof, while the orange ones were friendlier. YMMV.

29. Lucky kitty!
And, a handsome boy, to boot! I have a black cat who was dumped as a kitten by some worthless piece of shit, too. She looks a lot like Capt. Winky. Eight years later, and she still shows how grateful she is to have a good home. Her over-affection can be very annoying at times, but I wouldn't give her up for anything.

31. Thanks for...
...caring for Captain Winky! He's a lucky kitty.

I saw a kitten that looks a lot like Winky, but s/he wouldn't come to me after I called for her/him. The kitten couldn't have been older than four or five weeks. Its hair was all patchy. There was a bigger cat with that one, but I'm still worried that they won't find food.

:(

Anyway, give Winky a big, fat kiss from me! And thanks again for your compassion.

32. He's adorable..I have a 5-week old gray kitten in my bathroom right now...
...he was caught with a group of ferals to be fixed and then returned. He is really scared, but eating well and at least lets me pet him, but picking him up is still taboo. Working on finding him a home.
