Law Enforcement Officials Searching for Missing Alligator
The search for the missing alligator is called off Friday without finding the elusive reptile.
Law enforcement officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission searched an area of woods off Back Beach Road after an alligator jumped from a FWC officer’s truck and made a run for it.
The alligator had been taken by the officer to Breakfast Point Academy for his daughter’s “show and tell” at school. While driving back, the 4-foot gator jumped out of the back of a pickup truck.
Two officers searched the wooded area on the north side of Back Beach Road across from Olive Garden at Pier Park for the alligator. The FWC’s canine unit was also called in to assist with the search.
The alligator has its mouth taped shut with electrical tape. Officials gave up their search, but feel that the gator made its way to one of many ponds in the area.
