Halloween College Football Thread

Not a lot of Halloween-type mascots in Division I College Football -- no ghosts or goblins, etc., but there are a few Devils. The Duke Blue Devils play at Virginia and the Arizona State Sun Devils host Cal.



There are also two games between ranked teams today: USC at Oregon and Texas at Oklahoma State.

My Sooners host Kansas State tonight :woohoo: (And Illinois, in the midst of a season truly worthy of Halloween, hosts Michigan.)

1. Rough start for Iowa against Indiana

Hoosiers scored a TD on their first drive, and then Iowa missed a long FG on theirs, so Indiana leads 7-0, but Iowa's got the ball back now.

2. Indiana is up 21-7 at halftime

It was 14-7 when Iowa forced a punt with less than a minute left, but the Hawkeye return man caught a punt he shouldn't have (he was at his own six and it was heading for the end zone) and then fumbled it a few yards later. Three plays later Indiana scored a touchdown to go up 21-7.

6. Iowa just got a defensive touchdown -- 21-14 now

Iowa had just thrown an interception, and Indiana had a third and goal on the 8, already up 21-7. Iowa blitzed, and the QB's pass bounced off a defender, caromed off two or three more people in the backfield and then landed in the hands of an Iowa linebacker, who returned the interception for a touchdown.

Anyhow Arizona State is killing themselves with penalties. Turned a 1st and 10 into a 4th and 30.

Also the drive before that Kyle Williams bobbled a pass that ended up intercepted by Cal.

Cal is up 20-14 but Arizona State's offense is freakin' horrible. Dropped passes, penalties galore but they are hanging in there due to strong play by their defense.

Orange and black are perfect Halloween colors.

As it is, FSN is presently airing it on a tape delayed basis. They should have scheduled it later, like 7pm in Corvalis (10pm eastern).
