Gamers...anyone here ever play Fallout 3?
I've been watching my roommate play it for the past month or so, and I'm really tempted to get a PS3 just for this game. It seems to take a very long time to get through, which is the kind of game I love.

Any thoughts?

1. I've only played fallout 1 and 2 myself.
Sorry! :hi:

12. I love the post-apocalyptic scenario, and the game has a really eerie feel to it
guess I'll have to check out the first two as well!

2. About halfway through (I'm guessing).
I'm playing on a PC though, and I don't know if there any differences between that and the console version, but it's a damn good game.

11. I wish I could play it on my computer, but the thing is a total dinosaur
haven't given it any upgrades, and I've had it since 2003 :( but if I ever get more memory I'll check out the PC version of it, thanks!

3. Nope
Ive been considering it as well. I am not a console guy, but my wife is, so we have a ps3 now. I enjoyed fallout 2 on PC, so I was thinking that 3 might be a reasonable choice to try to bridge this gap between the computer and the console.

A question... would your roommate not allow you to play it a bit on his, before you decide whether to plunk down 299+another 50 or more for the game?

4. Oh, he would let me play...sure.
I'm just afraid he would never get me off of it!

5. Hmm
That seems the most practical way to find out if you enjoy it. Perhaps if you like it enough, instead of buying yourself a ps3, you can buy your roommate one, and keep his. Depending on its age, it may be better than the new ones in some ways anyway.

7. I was about 2/3 through the story line and had most of the map explored.
Then our xBox ate the disk.. I'm thinking of getting a copy of the pc version and starting over.
I was a big fan of Fallout and Fallout 2. I think Fallout 3 was as good a game as either one.

8. I'm playing through it at a very leisurely pace.
I've had it since around the time it came out, and I've only just now reached the radio station.

I get burned out on it if I play all the time. It stays very fresh when you play infrequently.

I just got Dragon Age today so that is totally usurping all PS3 time. It's even got me off Uncharted 2, which I thought was impossible.

9. My boyfriend has played it and loved it...

He downloaded a few more maps on the Xbox. The main mission itself is not that long, but the side stuff is the fun part and that takes a while. Just exploring the various areas and interacting with feral ghouls and the like (make sure you wear the ghoul mask when you do that) is fun.

I like its apocalyptic version of the DC/MD/VA area. Oh, and I love the 30s-40s music if you listen to one of the radio stations... Some good stuff there. Someone made an iTunes collection of Fallout 3 music with the Inkspots and others...

10. Pretty good game, but the ending is horrible
I liked it quite a bit, not quite as much as Fallout 1 or 2, but still quite good.

My only real quibble was with the ending, which, as I said, was horrible. However, they have apparently released some expansions since then that have sort of changed and modified the ending, so...

(If you're looking for a very good, long RPG, I'd probably suggest Dragon Age which just came out. I've been thoroughly enjoying it so far, not sure how long it is, but I've put in about 8 or 9 hours so far and it seems like I've just barely scratched the surface.)
