10. Honey bees keep their hive interior immaculate.

They don't even defecate in the hive; they poop outside. It's not unusual to see the yellow stains on the outside of the hives.

hat's a problem up here in cold country. If the temp is below mid 40F, the bees will not leave the queen; they cluster around her to keep her warm. So mid winter they need some warm days to do the cleansing flight or else they eventually have to let go in the hive and the toxins from the waste kills them. We lost both our hives last winter because they couldn't/wouldn't leave Big Momma, just never got warm enough.

If you want to see a grown man or woman cry, it's a bee keeper who pops the hive early spring and sees the interior covered with yellow stain. There's several thousand dead bees at the bottom of the hive.

When was the year you were the most happy and why?

Either 1990-1991 or 2000. 1990-1991 because I was nine years old then and living an idyllic existence as part of an expatriate community in Southeast Asia. I lived in a beautiful house, went to a lovely school, had some of the closest and most supportive and caring friends that I've ever had and a teacher who was probably the best teacher I ever had. Life was carefree and mostly consisted of sleepovers, parties and fun times at school. In addition to this, we lived near to our extended family and were very close to them and especially my late grandparents. It was also a year of intense optimism, seeing the reunification of Germany, the release of Nelson Mandela and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Even as a nine year old, I followed world events closely.

2000 was my first year of university and living away from home and I loved every aspect of it -campus life, my university and the courses I was enrolled in. Also was a time of incredible optimism and hope in world affairs. Looking back on it, the memories from that year seem almost magical

Actually for most of the whole second half of the 1990s, every year my happiness just seemed to increase. Every year just seemed to be getting better. Wish I could go back to that

Yes, out of the billions and billions of stars and planets in the universe I find it hard to believe ours is the only one with intelligent life.

When was the year you were the most happy and why?
2008(which followed 2007, my absolute worst year ever!). A co-worker became said best friend mentioned above, I went from being part-time to full-time at work, and Obama was elected which gave me hope for the future.

cold and rainy.

One rumor that's been spread about you:
That I was stuck up and snooty because I wouldn't speak much to people at work. When the real problem was I was severely depressed and also suffered from social phobia. I have since been put on medication and seeing a therapist and I have really come out of my shell! I am NOT the same person I was three years ago.

One goal you'd like to achieve this year:
To get out on my own and let the world know about my sexual orientation! Right now I am still semi-closeted but thanks to the help of some really great friends(and my awesome therapist) I'm hoping that will change!
