a couple of seconds after I took the pic the hawk apparently decided I was trying to steal his meal and flew it up into a tree

6. That's what I thought at first
We were told by a raptor expert it is more likely a Sharp Shinned Hawk

7. We a pair of red hawks that nest in the woods.
They help keep the pigeon population under control.

I have seen them catch their prey.

9. peregrines are settling in in chicago.
saw a pair doing that twitterpated dance in the sky yesterday. i am on the north edge of town. they were originally released downtown, but they have spread out, and are reaching into the suburbs. evanston library had a nesting pair last year and did a nest cam.
it'll still take them a while to get a grip on the pigeon population here. hoping they will take on the ring billed gulls that are everywhere after that.

11. The pair of red tail hawks have been around for awhile
There are several old dead trees they liket to nest in.

I like watching them fly.

The bayou and the railyard area is great for bird watching in the spring.

The mockingbirds came back, they were singing all day.

Looking for nesting spots.

Spring is close.

I live on the Upper West Side and was so shocked to see a hawk sitting on the balcony railing. I'm so glad my kitties were not sitting out there.

16. I saw two red tailed hawks attacking a flock of pigeons over the Charles River today
They were too fast for my camera, so I just stood there watching in fascination from my office window.
