Rest in Peace little Lola - had to put a ferret to rest today
My daughter is hurting. We all are.
Lola was our original ferret, the first of 8. She was the matriarch of the crew.
She was a good ferret, she loved and played a good life!

1. I'm so sorry
It's a very hard thing. Especially when it's the mama of the bunch. My condolences to you all, and safe passage to Lola.

RIP.

2. Thanks kimi....
We just buried her under our new willow tree in the backyard. She will have lots of sun and shade.

9. Yeah they do. Very individual, lots of fun
Every morning they get out of for playtime and boy do they go! Running and chasing and wrestling. Toys everywhere, pulling socks under dressers, building nests in drawers, chasing each other, jumping, bobbing and weaving, silly ferret games

Lola was always the calm one though. She was a little older than the rest, but every now and again she would get into it, and it was fun to watch because no matter who was plahing with her, the big boys or little girls there was always a little extra respect for her. She was the first!

11. She sounds like she was a sweetie. :)
All ferrets have their own personalities....My first one that I had was so wild, just endless amounts of energy. She liked to be on her own, always running around.
My second ferret loved human interaction more than my first. Surprisingly enough, she also loved and got along well with both my dogs. She hopped around playing with the dogs like she were one of them. Intelligent animals.

10. Rest well, sweet Lola.
I'm sorry. to you and your daughter. It's so painful to lose a friend.

I firmly believe that if there is a Heaven (or other form of pleasant afterlife), we get into it based on recommendations from the animals who've lived with us. Lola will put in a good word for you and your family, I know.

12. RIP, Lola.
I know how hard it is to put a beloved animal to rest. My parents' back yard is practically a cemetary. I've shed buckets of tears there.

Hugs to you and the family.

13. Thank you kindly...
Everything had calmed down this evening, when my daughter went back to her room where Lola lived to get something and the sudden realization that she was gone hit again and tears poured. MY wife went back to console and she broke down. They had a good cry though.

I am going to find a nice picture of Lola and sneak out tomorrow and get it framed for them.

19. So sorry for your loss.
We're also partial to exotic pets. We had to put one of our chinchillas to sleep last month due to cancer and know how hard it can be. His cagemate is very depressed. :(

22. For now we're holding off.
With chinchillas you just can't dump them together with another chin, they have to acclimate and IF they get along you can try it. The entire process can take months. For now we have moved him close enough to the female chin's cage that they are chatting and throwing litter, LOL. Not close enough to do any damage. She's alone too but prefers it that way. We let them play separately in my big bathroom so they stay out of trouble (like ferrets, they can really get into it!).

BTW, we also have a hedgehog, bearded dragon, two doxies and two kitties. And hamsters (how many, I don't know).
