My wife is lurking downstairs in case one of the girls doesn't want her artichoke heart.
My eldest is back from her freshman year in college, so I made steamed artichokes with garlic butter for dipping. Sometimes one of the three is too full (or too worn out) by the time they get to the heart so they just can't eat it. My wife considers this a score for herself, and a loss for the girl in question. The girls are watching "Raising Arizona", so artichoke heart score or not, she may get trapped by the movie. We're planning to watch "The Mexican" up here (with popcorn), but we'll see how that goes. We've seen it quite a few times, but you can always watch that one again.

She doesn't know it, but I've got shitake and oyster mushrooms to fry with shallots and add to fresh steamed asparagus and gorgonzola in the omlette I'm making her for breakfast. Not that she'll like that or anything.

3. If your wife doesn't want it, send it to me.
She is one lucky woman, having a man who not only cooks, but cooks what she loves.

4. A) it won't get past her; B) if it did, I would eat it; and C) it won't survive mailing.

5. UPDATE on the lurking...
My wife scored my eldest daughter's artichoke heart (and the garlic butter was just perfect for her).

Our middle daughter left shreds of what might have been something approximating what artichoke remainders might look like.

The youngest is so involved in "Raising Arizona" that she's taking forever to get through her artichoke. The middle one will inhale whatever is left on her plate.
