I will cross-post this in the DIY forum, but I have a dryer problem
I bought a 10 year old Kenmore 70 Series dryer when I moved here. Couldn't afford new...

My appliances are on a suicide mission again. $1200 repair for the Ford (broken spring in the rear and brakes) and the dryer interior is blue. Bright blue. Anything lighter than jeans are being streaked with blue and even bleach won't remove it from the clothes. I tried using rubbing alcohol to wipe it off the drum, but that didn't budge it. I don't mind drying clothes outside when it gets warmer, but sometimes I need to dry medium/light clothes in a dryer.

Any suggestions? Has anyone ever replaced a drum before. Is it even possible?

TIY!

1. Rubbing alcohol?

If it is a gas dryer, what you did was very dangerous. I would look for a non-flammable/combustible product that cleans whatever your dryer drum is made from (aluminum/stainless steel)..ect..

2. I tried it on a very small spot
and when it didn't work, wiped it down with a damp cloth. The dryer door has been propped open since this morning to allow the spot to dry completely.

3. Punt that 10 yr. old dryer. Unless you know how to fix it.

4. I think that thrift stores sell good used dryers
They get a lot of washers/dryers/refrigerators/etc, so they only take the good ones. It couldn't hurt to check one of them out.

5. It sounds like someone painted your dryer drum
Replacing it would probably cost you more than a new dryer would, so you gotta use SOMETHING to get the paint out of the drum without fucking up the porcelain underneath. Fine steel wool would probably work.

6. did somebody "dry" a pen or crayon? or is it the actual finish?
I see a lot of used dryers for $50 - 100 check craigslist.
