1976
an island of fashion

You could walk down the street in 2006 in 1956 attire and no one would notice. You could walk down the street in 1956 in 2006 attire and very few people would notice. But if you ever get stuck in time (yes, I'm thinking about LOST again) you can't go anywhere in 1976 clothes except, maybe, 1977. But even then they'd laugh at you.

1. Try wearing bell-bottoms and platform shoes, and see how that works. (nt)

3. Shatner was wise to avoid being seen in 1970s attire; maybe he knew
how awful it was going to look in the future.

My brother had a couple of satin ones: one peacock blue and the other canary yellow.

9. Not just clothes; remember how everything was all-things bicentennial?
Eagles, Liberty Bells, the 13 Colonies Flags ect. adorned everything! Not that there is anything wrong w/that (I feel like Seinfeld)... But sometimes less is more. For example: Our 1976 Fleetwood(?) Mobile Home (we bought it in 1991 as temporary housing while building a home on our land)

Description:

1)Oversized Eagle placard thingy 'gracing' our outdoor front side.
2)Liberty Doorbell
3)Eagle motif kitchen and bathroom linoleum floors
***AND****
4)13 Original Colonies flag on sliding glass shower doors

All that, and of course the lovely fake wood paneling and :puke: original orange shag carpet (which was NOT allowed to stay; no matter how "temporary" my SO insisted the place would be)

BTW- I was 10 in 1976 and I can remember wearing brown polyester pants w/eagles all over them but the odd thing is that I wasn't the only one whose mom dressed her funny)
