Anyone here use Estee Lauder's "Idealist Dual Refinisher"?
It's pricey, but I have a free little sample jar. I'm kind of scared of the description:

All-in-one treatment delivers the instant, skin-renewing benefits of both Micro‑Dermabrasion and a 30% glycolic acid peel. Delivers dramatic skin resurfacing with deep, thermal action that warms skin to help open, purify and minimize pores. Exclusive MicroSphere Refinishing System with advanced scrubbing spheres instantly smooths rough, dry patches. With just one application the radiant skin you want is revealed. Unbelievably smooth and polished. Virtually poreless.

Am I going to have a red and raw face if I try this? I usually only use very basic moisturizers, but I don't mind trying new things.

Anyone have any experience with this product, or other microdermabrasion / glycolic acid peels? :scared:

1. Do a patch test
Dab a bit on the inside of your wrist and see what happens.

2. OK, that sounds like a safe start...
thanks.

I know EL wouldn't put anything out that would cause damage (too much liability) but the product description is a little daunting.

3. Is this what you are using?

Because I have used this for almost 15 years and swear by it. I'm in my 40s and only have a few mild wrinkles.

BTW, see if there is a Cosmetic Company store in your area (usually at your local outlet mall). This is the outlet store for all Estee Lauder products including MAC, Bobby Brown, Clinique, DKNY, Prescriptives and of course Estee Lauder. I can get my Skin Idealist 25% off there!

4. thanks! I'll check at the link!
OK, if you've tried and tested it, I'll go for it. I have a little sample tub ... I just turned 40 and am looking for a few products beyond just moisturizer. There are so many out there, though, that it's hard to decide. I've always liked EL products, though. :hi:

5. There are 3 face products I swear by:
* Skin Idealist- just really smooths out the face
* St. Ives Apricot Scrub for Renew & Firm (Like $5 a bottle)
* Burt's Bees Naturally Ageless With Pomegranate & White Birch Bark Skin Firming Night Creme

I was at my friends house and I had my stuff - she said I put too much crap on my face and didn't need it since I didn't have any wrinkles. I told her I didn't have any wrinkles because I've been using this stuff for years.

BTW none of these items are moisterizers - I am not committed to any one brand.

6. do you have any eye-specific creams you like?
I've used the St. Ives Apricot Scrub before and really liked it -- never found anything better. I'll check out that Burt's Bees product. I like it that all of these companies also don't engage in animal testing...

Dr. Hauschka has some nice stuff, too -- I once splurged and bought some shampoo that smelled DIVINE.
