4. You're in Pecos?
Edited on Sat Jun-05-10 09:37 PM by janx
I love Pecos! It was something like 105 in ABQ today, according to my friend's car thermometer. UGH. And the float on my swamp cooler is malfunctioning. I tried to bend it as I've done in the past, but it may be time to break down and buy and new one.

13. (see my edit above)
While much of my empire locally is nothin' but a smoking crater, other opportunities keep popping up, and I'm surprised by all the activity here. I came close to taking a gig in Santa Fe but the guy was from Texas so I wa suspicious...he proved me right by refusing to commit to anything in writing after I had my attorney draw up a contract. Still out for signature, and I sent it to him notarized, even sent him a prepaid FedEx envelope to return it.

Los Tejanos son ladrones, todavia. here's a Los Lobos tune to Cheer you up:

5. Los Lobos just announced that they're canceling gigs in Arizona
Edited on Sun Jun-06-10 04:47 AM by abq e streeter
David Hidalgo is one of the greatest musicians I've ever had the privilege to see in person.....a virtuoso on everything he played, and a gorgeous voice too . Been fortunate to have seen them about a half dozen times; Albq, Chicago, ( where John Doe walked onto the stage and sang Your Cheatin Heart , backed by Los Lobos and Dave Alvin, as one of the encores) and a New Year's Eve show in LA with The Blasters.

and yeah, earliest Albq has ever hit 100 degrees, and I'm supposed to go to the Isotopes game tomorrow AFTERNOON (supposed to be 102). Even Santa Fe was 99 today; you guys must've been pretty close to that.:hi: to my fellow NM DUers, mix and janx...

14. yeah, 8200 feet oughta be cool but even Santa Fe was almost 100 yesterday
just out of curiosity, I'm gonna look it up..........that can't be right (can it?); weather channel says it was 105 in Cloudcroft yesterday...but storms and in the 70's and 80's next couple of days...mix is in Ruidoso, I'll see if he's still online and check it out. Beautiful country though...I'm playing a gig at the Inn of the Mountain Gods down there in July...

16. Cloudcroft is interesting temperature wise
The normal adiabatic lapse rate is about 3 degrees F for each 1,000'. Cloudcroft is only about 3,000' higher than most of Albuquerque, so in theory it should only be about 10 degrees cooler on average. However, the actual average temps run about 20 degrees cooler and it always seems to be much more when you're there.

Coming down from Pecos, the storms were distracting, beautiful.

15. Hi mix---is it hotter than hell even in Ruidoso?
just saw on the weather channel's site that Cloudcroft was 105 yesterday. That CAN'T be right, can it? ( although Santa Fe was 99, bet it was damn hot even in Pecos.) Do you go to Ruidoso often? I'm playing at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in July...I'll probably do a post about it in the lounge and the NM forum before it. We're supposed to have a special guest with us too but don't want to jinx it by saying anything too soon.
