1. Yes, they did

Financing available through Apple, IBM, and I can't remember what the third option was.

In the computer sales business, the 80s were the Good Old Days. A really maxed out system cost as much as many cars did.

Also note:

* There is NO hard drive.
* A 40MB would set you back, like, $400 or so,
* WTF with the Micro Channel? Tandy really, really made the bad bet there. Here it is 2010, and PCs STILL have 8-bit and 16-bit slots... this would seem to prove that the MCA "advantage" was dubious at best.

I sold some of these bad boys back in the day... yes, the list price IS $19,317. And back then, when we said "list price", we meant "list price".

4. 16M hard drive. Ha!
I recall when 1G hard drives were unimaginable. Technology has improved exponentially since then.

8. We got a Macintosh IIci in 1989 for $8800 base price
Edited on Mon Jun-21-10 08:58 AM by Rob H.
With monitor, an upgrade from a 40MB hard drive to an 80MB hard drive, a scanner, and an inkjet printer the total was close to $11,000. (It may have been more than that, actually. I can't remember for certain.)

Edit: now that I think about it, it may have been a dot-matrix printer.
