Anyone watch Treme? (spoiler coming up)
I cried at the end with the funeral procession. For two reasons. First it was a sad scene and we all hate losing Goodman, but the main thing that I cried about was that for all the struggles the characters and New Orleans is having in the show there's still the fucking BP Oil Gusher in the cities future. I felt real grief.

1. me too
the music and dancing in Treme was awesome, the series ended too soon. I loved how they mixed up leaving b4 Katrina with the final episode. the Indian dance through the city was KOOL.

sigh

3. That was only the end of the first season
it was renewed for a second season two days after the first episode aired! :bounce:

2. Life imitates art
The Goodman character was in large part based on the late titan of the NOLA blogosphere, H. Ashley Morris, Ph.D.; some of Goodman's choicest rants were taken directly from Ash's blog posts.

There are lots of pictures up of yesterday’s jazz funeral for Ashley Morris, but I want to call you in particular those by dbs of bark, bugs, leaves and lizards which are simply fantastic. The black and white drop outs below are particularly fine. So many have written so well about Friday’s event, I’ll leave it at helping to share out what Ashley cared deepest about (after his family): the unique music and culture of New Orleans.

4. Great, great TV show. Melissa Leo, John Goodman, Clark Peters and Khandi Alexander....

...all deserve Emmy nomiminations.

David Simon is quickly turning into a national treasure. He doesn't make TV shows. He makes dramatized television novels.

And just by watching that show, I want to visit New Orleans now. What an awesome city.
