6. Let's see
Plastic is one of his favorites. Chewing up plastic bags and then throwing them up later. I don't know why the fascination but I know he never learns.

He loves black olives.
He loves malt balls.
And he loves peppermint. His favorite is white chocolate with peppermint bits. And the peppermint we use is strong. The flavor lasts at least 20 minutes after eating.

45. Not surprising that he loves malt balls
It seems many cats love malt. I guess that's why they use malt extract as a base for hairball remedy and supplement pastes. I had one who went nuts over it. Hairball remedy was her most favorite treat on the planet--except for when I was home-brewing. She got to lick the residue from the bags of malt extract that I used.

Canteloupe and honeydew were her favorites.

It all started when my sister was making a fruit salad, and the cat was getting under foot. She gave the critter a piece of melon, figuring she;'d sniff it, realize it was never a bird or a fish, and wander off.

Nope.

37. Evie has a freakish sweet tooth, reported here previously
She likes breakfast bars, croissants, and cake. After her (expensive) pancreatitis last month, she's barred from those.

Socrates eats anything he finds on the floor :eyes:, and strawberry yogurt. Plato likes corn chips. Quark and Neutrino seems pretty vanilla in their food tastes, but will occasionally try to snag some breakfast rolls, especially if there's butter involved.

Understand that they are not willfully fed those - they come and poach when those foods are present. They eat cat food - 20 times a day,, but cat food nonetheless.

Their dad, Imhotep, god rest him, got more aggressive in his begging the more roasted chicken you gave him. With huge hands and a massive head, he was well-equipped for the poaching thing. :)

38. It is strange
I have read cats have very few taste buds for recognizing sweets. And two kinds of candy are one of the few things he begs for. I can understand malt balls because they may have yeast or something like his dry food or fresh rolls which he will attack if left on the counter. But peppermint bark? The peppermint is crunchy but he eats the white chocolate as well.

He only gets a tiny piece for a day or two then I put it away for when he is not around because cats seem to be prone to diabetes and tooth decay. And unfiltered fluoridated water for a week is the price he pays for his treats.

Chocolate has a compound that is toxic to either (although you have to get
down to the bottom of this article to see mention of cats - only because
cats don't normally scarf it up at a rate of 300 fucking metric tons per
minute).
.
.
After learning this, I didn't even give NoName little FLECKS of chocolate.

And she seemed OK with that.

41. Hey thanks!
I knew chocolate was bad for dogs but thought cats were ok with it.

I don't give my cat much, maybe a few bites per month in the winter, as I don't keep that kind of thing around the house. I will seriously consider just saying no from now on. I wasn't worried about the white chocolate (except for tooth decay) and that seems to be borne out by the article but the malt balls seem a real no-no. No loss for me I think I have had only 3 movie theatre size boxes of malt balls in the last five years. I just found it funny that they were one of the few things he actually actively pestered me for. I've actually looked for just the puffed malt balls without the chocolate coating but didn't find them in the stores.

Thanks again for the link it was very informative.

I mean MUY CALIENTE salsa, cuz that's how I like it. One time, I left my veggie huevos rancheros loaded with the stuff when I went to the kitchen for more wine. I come back, and there's Kitty slurping up the habenero like there's no tomorrow! I freaked out, thinking I'd have to put a diaper on her, but she was just fine.

Also, she stole a homemade french fry from my plate one time. She came back begging for more. I thought they were supposed to be carnivores!

The gray-and-white in my sigline, Missy, will jump in your lap as soon as she sees you have a bottle, and when you're not looking, she will lick whatever she can get from the neck.

I know alcohol is a no-no for kitties, but all she ever gets is the flavor of it, but she's intent on getting her licks in.

She won't drink any poured in a glass, only ales still in the bottles.

Weird.
