Marylanders, DCers, Virginians! Rally 10-30-10 questions
I want to come down for the Rally, if there is, indeed a rally! So I'm trying to swing it financially, and I was looking online last night for fares and all that good stuff, and I have multitudinous questions.

From Boston to the airport formerly known as National, the airfare is between $155-$180, RT.
From Boston to BWI, the fare is $100.

The train ride is $155, but it's too long (over 5 hrs.) to consider it.

These fares are RT, either flying in on 10/30 and leaving the same day, just a lot later in the day, or 10/30, flying out 10/31.

I can't afford to go if I have to spend overnight, unless I can find someone who can accept me as a crashee.

But what's the scoop on getting from BWI to the Mall, and is it so much more money that it would be easier to spend the extra $50 (or thereabouts) and go straight into National?

I haven't been in that area since....1983, so I could barely count it as someplace I've "been."

And how would I know where to look for DUers, and FBers?

I'm limited in some ways, as due to health issues, I can't stand up for long periods of time, and I can't walk very far. To normal people, I will slow them down. Thus, I have to go via a way that would allow me to slow down and stop every now and again and sit down. It's terrible getting old.

Any help, guys? Thanks in advance!

1. Go Straight to National
Its over an hour to get to the Mall from BWI. You would also have to take Amtrak and I'm not how often it runs (unless its weekday and then maybe it would be MARC). If you cant take commuter train its probably going to be like $30 round trip at least.
If you do a one day trip, you won't be able to stay on the Mall very long because just getting out and back will take awhile...And leaving the Mall after a big event takes awhile. Also you will either have to transfer to Metro or walk a good distance from Union station.
I'll probably be going and so will some other people I know so I could possibly help you get around that day in DC.

2. Call it NATIONAL!!!
I now live in an 'exurb' 60 miles from DC, so crashing at my place doesn't appear to be practical. Sorry, hyphen.
