Please Post A Picture of Yourself From 20 Years ago.

Here's a pic on the family flamingo farm & toad terrarium, circa 1990. I almost look like my nephew who is 30, for chrissake.

it goes by fast, kids.

3. This is the Hohenfels Maneuver Training Center in Germany.
I was a tanker by training, but for my first year of active duty, I was a scout track driver for Battalion Operations. The M-113A3 shown here was a sweet machine, but nothing compared to the M1 Abrams I had trained on. After my year-long stint in Ops, I was transferred to a tank company three weeks before shipping to the Gulf...

We paid for a ticket and climbed a very dark, narrow spiral staircase and came out there. A couple of other people wound up there, but not many. It's possible I crossed a barrier I didn't notice. I know I crossed a couple of barriers I didn't notice in other places. :) There was a rope at Sacre Couer that probably was meant to prevent us from going some of the places we went, for instance...

90. You need a haircut there, bro.
Of course, I was enlisted, not an officer. Maybe an officer can get away with a 'do like that... :P

91. I was always pushing it on the hair thing.
I have way shorter hair now, in fact.

Funny story I just got from my Air Force Academy reunion, that I had forgotten all about:

When I showed up on day 1, I had hair down to the middle of my back (it was the 70s, you know). Anyway, the barbers were so impressed that while one shaved my head, another timed it with a stopwatch. I do remember it being 22 seconds. Unfortunately, the barber was concerned with speed, not accuracy. The part I forgot about was that they left about 4 long hairs hanging out of my almost completely shaven head. My very first night there, my basic training roommate sat up with fingernail clippers, cutting those hairs to keep me out of trouble.

I ran into him at the reunion and he recounted that story. I guess, being 34 years ago, I can see how I forgot about it.
