Kitty vibes
My daughter has a large beautiful black and white cat named Ando. She told me that Ando has been yakking up all over the house for the last couple of days.

When she got home today, Ando was really sick. She took him to the emergency vet, and he will be having surgery soon. He ate something large, square and inorganic.

This will be expensive for her, but she is having the surgery done for her beloved kitty.

I told her it reminded me of a book I used to read to the kids when they were small, 'Curious George Goes to the Hospital.' Most people here know that Curious George was a fictitious monkey. Curious George had to go to the hospital because he ate a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. Soon we will know what Ando ate.

Please keep Ando in your thoughts. My daughter loves him so.

3. My best to your family...
I hope everything goes well.

Years ago my kitty ate a needle and thread. I understand the pain and cost involved. We will truly do almost anything for our 'kids'.

4. The needle too?
Wow. My brother's cat ate thread some years ago. He needed emergency surgery for that. They had to hide all string and thread from that kitty. But the needle? Wow.

7. Yeah, Cat was a handful...
One day I came home from work (doing 3rd shift)and walked into the bathroom. Cat followed me and jumped up on the sink. I gave her a rub and went to use the facilities. She turned around and I saw the string hanging from her butt. I touched it and she yowled. Paul came home and we took her to the vet. She found a needle and thread and swallowed it. Punctured the intestinal wall but fortunately did not develop peritonitis. She lived to be about 15 years old. And yet always remained a handful.

he was playing with it as a toy, carrying it around in his mouth and flipping it around and managed to ingest it - I do hope he will be OK

vet surgery is indeed expensive but for beloved pets they are worth it

16. Ando ate a foam earplug.
She used to use them for symphony, when she needed to filter out noise to rehearse. She gave some to her roommate when she needed to sleep. Their upstairs tenants can be quite noisy.

She will get Ando tonight, and he has to stay quiet for the next month. I don't see how they will manage that. But she will work from home tomorrow, to keep an eye on Ando.

earplug? When I think of all the small things around my house - that is now scary.
Glad he is OK.

18. Hide all the earplugs, if you have them.
Apparently cats ingest them fairly regularly. It almost always causes problems. If my dog ate one of those, she would pass it with no problems. But it does not work that way for cats.
